Nigel Benn was a scary dude back in the day

It was this era that got me into boxing...all watched for free on telly.

I was a big Benn fan at 15/16 years old...back in the day you literally never knew what to expect, he was always a KO waiting to happen.

I remember a fight, maybe British title where he was getting battered and just one punch out of know where KO'd the guy...

 

Terrestrial television in the UK has not been free for 80 odd year

 

It was free when I was 15/16 - my parents paid

He certainly was. Nigel’s willingness to engage and vulnerabilities made him a fans favourite. A real throwback who would carry on battling until the last breath. His autobiography is well worth a read if anyone is interested.

I love watching old clips, so much purer than today's tosh. As much as I dislike elements of Nigel Benn there's no denying that he had appeal and was a serious bad a ss

 

Conor really is a chip off the old block in terms of looks and mannerisms isn't he.

 

Just watched it there on you tube, was mad, 12 rounds of action in 2, Great stuff.

 

He can be as scary as he likes, he didn't back up these words. Boxers certainly weren't that scared of him.
