If does that, defends the belts several times/or and moves to MW and finds success he will surpass his dad.

 

Yeah, I think people forget this especially the espn crew back in the day. Judah to them was Mike Tyson combined with Pernell Whitaker. The whole US boxing media was super butt hurt when King Kostya beat Zab. I remember Ring or KO magazine, hid the result away on one of the back pages of the issue, with a quarter page dedicated to the fight .

 

As a huge Kostya Tszyu fan back then, honestly, it was my only beef with Kostya. He never, ever ducked fights but he never chased them either. I reckon he could have got a fight with Oscar, maybe Mosley aswell but Floyd ducked him. Once again though Tszyu never chased it. 3 or 4 of his biggest wins were against Showtime pushed fighters, who were put in against Kostya, to beat him so even Kostyas biggest wins were dudes literally lined up for him.

Kostya Tszyu losing to Vince Phillips put a spanner in the works for awhile regarding big fights.

As for this thread ? Absolutely not Tszyu is one of the most highly rated Jr Welterweights of the modern era. Tim has to do alot more to be talked about in the same breath as Kostya.

 

Yeah, I remember watching the fight at a pub in Melbourne, I was in disbelief after it. My Dad was shocked also when I got home and told him. He never rematched Philips either.

I find it funny people are questioning how Tim got the fight with Harrison. Comparing the two...who the **** has Ryan Garcia fought to get the Tank fight?

 

Timmy has a ways to go before he reaches his fathers status. Beating a Harrison and a Charlo does not do it though.
