Here you guys go. It wasn’t going through as a regular video so I posted it on YouTube. I’m the one in the blue headgear.

I’d be happy to keep sharing my amateur journey on here. It’d be pretty cool to get feedback from guys who actually know the sport.

Hey man nice video. Btw, it looks like sparring to me, real amateur fight has serious officials and judges, guy in the ring looks like a coach. And seniors (18+) wear no headgear. Good luck to your next fights!

And I don't remember seeing the referee stop the contest; he had no reason to because nobody got hit. They were throwing pit pat punches.

I honestly have no idea what the whole situation was. They just told us they were having some small amateur bouts on that day and gave us the option of signing up. I was also expecting judges but this is how it was. There was also supposed to be a ref but he didn’t show up so a coach had to improvise. There were weigh ins and some paperwork involved but I don’t know how official this really was.

we called these fights sparring-matches. They are usually against fighters from other clubs, with weigh-ins, so the coaches can pair us. They were also pairing us according to skill, age, and experience. Sometimes one of the coaches was inside the ring, sometimes nobody, and sparring was opened for spectators for free. These were real fights, but without any record. Also, we were often wearing headgear and almost always big-sized gloves (18oz, 20oz). There were knockouts, or withdrawals in the middle of the fight, white towels and all, but it was never recorded. I don't wanna take anything from your fight or win, just saying it isn't a true sanctioned amateur fight, but it is a great opportunity to gain experience for one. Just sing for these fights as much as you can if you want to progress.

Thanks for the input, I’m still green when it comes to this type of stuff so I don’t really know what’s official or not. It was still a lot of fun and I’m glad to know that I can compete when everything thrown is at 100%. There having another one in 3 weeks and I will definitely be participating.

Congrats on the win the other day.

Glad I stumbled across this thread because I'm in need of some help myself. I'm doing my final major project for my journalism course, and my project theme is on combat sports.

I'm actively looking for fighters or coaches, at any level, to interview for my podcast for my project. You my friend would be the perfect candidate to interview.

If you have a spare 15 mins at some point...I would be super grateful if you could get back to me.

    Either way, all the best.

Yea I’d be happy to do an interview. I’ve only had one fight though, there’s probably more posters on here who are more experienced and can give you some more insight.
