How about HW's who weighed under 200? Marciano never weighed in over 200, for example.

Let’s make cruiser at its original weight of 190 with same-day weigh-ins and no rehydration beyond what they can ingest through drinking (which would fill their bellies but not reabsorb in time).

Some of these guys mentioned would faint (not feint) on the ring walk shrinking down.

True but it’s still not accurate to call them cruiserweights even though they could have competed there

EDIT: ok I suppose Rocky could have dominated

    Now, come on, now.

Does not. He just never needed to get a better chin.

Literally every single word there makes sense. There are dictionary definitions for all of them. Let me ask you this, Mad. Do you believe in the laws of physics...?

You might be on to something...The Sweet Physics of Boxing has a good ring to it.
You should do a poll- The Sweet Physics or The Sweet Science.

It may be Ali, but that is far from a foregone conclusion.
Did you read what I said about Ali & Louis giving back a bit of their advantages due to being excellent against bigger guys, but having some issues with elite smaller faster men?
But if you still believe it is Ali, please vote for him in the poll.

I am not keeping some of the obvious ones for CW? What or who do you mean?

It is a good question who would be the best LHW under modern rules.
If I did that thread I would also include some CWs, at least when it was up to 190.

    A good question indeed!
Front runner for me would be Lewis.
Next or nearly as good a choice, Wlad. Better for overall longevity, but the question without qualification implies who is best H2H against all, say in a round robin tournament.

It's not about the definition in the dictionary only, but the gray matter.

I must disagree with you here Mr. Magoo, although you have been here even longer than mere, 16 venerable years!
It is not at all impossible to surmise anything like this-because the word only indicates make a reasonable educated guess.
Even comparing guys in the same division, even in the same era, heck even if they faced each other multiple times (since one is virtually always more prime, & how they would do against all comers is still a matter of opinion)...All of this involves surmising.

None of which indicates that any opinion has any definitive justification as necessarily correct in a universe where we could reincarnate everyone with all native capacities & tendencies under neutral conditions.

So I hope that you can offer an opinion-such as do you believe that the best CWs would not be as good as an Ali, Tyson, Holmes etc...In same day weigh ins?
Can you bear to pick a best under 200 same ay weigh in fighter?

Of the guys who reasonably could have made under 200 I will go with pre World War 2 Joe Louis. Joe weighed from 197 to 203 during all of those title defenses and he was fantastic. He would then be followed by Usyk, Marciano and Holyfield, in that order

    I wouldn’t include Ali so it’s Louis.

Tyson was never a cruiserweight by any criteria.

Tyson was a Cruiserweight at 14 years old pretty much, i would find it hard to fathom him being able to make Cruiserweight as an adult.

I think Michael Spinks and Bob Foster are being overlooked in this discussion aswell.

Yeah, I mean, I guess Butterbean was a cruiserweight at some point in his life.
