I don't think it's that. I think that he's just tired of fighting. I don't think that he's motivated by money and he finally realizes that he will never regains the heights that he once reached. Nothing in it for him anymore. I could be wrong but that's how I see it.
He never wanted to fight Lara, when the WBA mandated it, it was an easy decision for him to drop the belt. Had that been a no hoper who was mandated to fight GGG I dont think he would have vacated.
I hear you, but I just think that Lara don't bring anything to table for him. I think that GGG is starving for the glory he once had, even more so than the money. I just can't see an old warrior like GGG having any fear in his heart.
I don't think he's scared, he just doesn't feel comfortable against 1.) A quick southpaw and 2.) A highly skilled fighter who has a style who can make him look bad even at 39 years old. Its a fight that has been talked about for years with fans, and fighters and one I've genuinely wanted to see because when no one was wanting to "fight him In his Prime", Lara was there calling him out but he got the shoulder so he (GGG) can fight guys like Vanes, monroe, wade and co. Its clear he's never wanted Lara and tbh it sucks, I think it would have been a great fight even in the late stages of both of their careers.
They are both only shadows of thier former selves and what might have been true back then is not necessarily true now.
Jacobs has a win over Rosado. If we are going by public opinion then that is different. I would have enjoyed it as well, but i don't think the networks were interested, and GGG'S lackluster performance in his last fight might be coming back to bite him. You mention Vanes like he is a scrub or something, Vanes gave Lara all he could handle twice and should also have a win over Mel Charlo as well. He was also training for a fight and ready, although he hadn't fought for maybe 2 years. GGG annihilated him in 2 rounds.l wish it were Lara or we wouldn't be having this discussion now.
Lara is still Quick and highly skilled. Only difference is hes more flat footed and would most likely be right in front of GGG if they fought today. I truly believe that Laras style is the reason that fight will never take place.
You know, you have a valid point, I just read the article on him dropping the belt and he is not retiring. I can't see any reason for that unless like you said, he don't want the Lara fight. He might as well retire.
You said mandated, didn't specify WBA, u think he is scared of Lara? Lol. GGG would punch holes in him even at 41.
