I felt the same when AJ was due to fight Miller. Sadly it takes a while for the British general public to catch up

Can barely think of 10 British world champs I wouldn't feed into a wood chipper if I had the chance. For every Froch there's a Fury and for every Frampton there's a Sunny. Oh dear, dear me...

    I hear you.

But I don't dislike Fury because he's a braggart, or just vaguely unpleasant.

I'm coming to dislike him because all the noises coming out of the negotiations indicate it's Fury holding up the fight happening and he isn't acting like an alpha male at all, he's acting like he's happy to duck the fight if it doesn't pay well enough.

Also, I don't expect these guys to be polite to one another, but, as I say, the 70/30 split demand stinks of hubris and shows a lack of respect for a guy who actually has arguably had a more impressive career (lb for lb) than himself.

I posted about this in another thread last week.

Fights that sell out Wembley where most of the PPV buys come from UK PPV have a very limited financial ceiling.

Fury made like 80% or 90% of the money when he was fighting Whyte and Chisora last year and likely got the lion's share of the gate as well.

But since UK PPV prices are so low, compared to the US, you can't give both guys huge purses. When Joshua was filling stadiums there, he took the vast majority of the money, too. When Joshua lost, and the new champs wanted more to defend against Joshua, they had to take the fights out of the UK. As Eddie Hearn recently said, there's only so much money in the pot (when it comes to UK fights).

So, of course, Fury wants to make more money for a Usyk unification than he did for the Chisora and Whyte fights. He certainly doesn't want to make less than he made for Whyte ... particularly for a unification that's supposed to be the biggest fight going.

That's why they tried so hard to put this fight in Saudi, where some dude can just cut one check and everyone gets paid no matter how poorly ticket sales or PPV buys go. But they couldn't even sell it there.

Even with a 70-30 split in Fury's favor, they're going to have to charge more for the PPV and get far more UK fans to buy it just so Fury makes more than he did for Whyte and Chisora.

And if Fury can make more in April fighting someone like Andy Ruiz, who will take an 80-20 or 85-15 split for another crack at the title, and they can probably sell more PPVs of that fight (because of the West Coast Latino fans) in the US ...

Then there's a good chance Fury will take the fight where he'll make more money.

Once this fight couldn't be made in Saudi, there was a good chance it wouldn't happen. Because they don't charge enough for UK PPVs to generate the income both want.

But, I hope it happens. If not, I hope Usyk fights Wilder in the US. Usyk would probably make more against Wilder in Vegas than he will being shortchanged against Fury in the UK.

As long as the fight actually happens and we have a clear winner with no controversy then I’m fine with that .

Look no further than Usyk's countryman Wlad's strategy against Povetkin back in 2013. It could end up being an extremely disappointing fight despite all the hype.

But yeah if the fight gets made I'll be putting money on Fury to win on points, just a heads up. Remember the fight will be taking place in the UK.

If you only fight about once or twice a year and one of those fights is against someone you have already comfortably beaten twice instead of fighting someone like AJ who was willing to fight, then you are damaging boxing and holding up the division

So without a rematch clause, if Usyk wins Fury will quit boxing? Sounds like a great deal.

I have no doubt that Fury and Usyk are friendly behind the curtains and will end up being pals once this is all said and done if they aren't already. Fury is an absolute master at mind games and it looks like the majority of this forum has fallen right in to his little gypsy trap.

As hard as it is to like Fury at the moment the opposite is true for Usyk

I think that Usyk should get a clause for an unlimited amount of rematches. Imagine Oleskander Usyk 18-14 vs Tyson Fury 63-0 . Usyk vs Fury 14! The brawl for a fall.

Its absolutely hilarious how the few Fury fans there are on this forum are constantly gaslighting everyone else in trying to blame Usyk for holding up/not wanting this fight.

In reality, they don't want to admit that their hero Luke Fury is terrified of getting in the ring with a "little gappy toothed middleweight"

Keep ducking reality fellas, just like your hero who is **** scared & is doing everything in his power to duck the fight! :pancarta:
