This was actually from a few months ago ..

This guy was a regular "customer", always getting drunk and calling 9-11, or his neighbors would call cause he would get drunk and fall outside.
I'd probably responded to his place about a half dozen times or so..

One time I took him to ER cause he got drunk and cut part of his thumb off.

He lived in some filthy, roach infested one room apartment, and always had his music playing hella loud.

I never knew he was a boxer till after he died, one of the cops on scene that knew him from back in the day told me.
We got called there for a wellness check and found him laying face down in a pool of blood. Looked like he just dropped dead from a heart attack and landed face first.

He never had a problem with me, but didn't like my partner, I really thought he was going to try and sucker punch him one day.

He was never anything more than a subpar journeyman, but along the way he faced the likes of Maurice Blocker, Julian Jackson, and Uriah Grant.

How can you say "RIP" then go off on a rant putting him down every which way possible? Im surprised you didnt bring up his family tree and start knocking them too.

That's just how I knew him. I wasn't putting him down, just describing my interactions with him

Apparently who ever raised you didnt teach you the valuable life lesson to never knock a man when he is down because one day that could be you.
You said you didnt know he was a boxer so in other words you didnt know this man but your quick to judge him?
His life and circumstances got the best of him and thats how you should have said it.
You said he never did anything to you so in this case if you have nothing good to say about him then keep your mouth shut.

When did I ever judge him?
YOU are the one that has a problem with how I described him. I don't look down on him for what he does or how he lives, but apparently you feel some type of way about people like that..

The whole point of this thread was to share this guy's story on a boxing forum, because he fought some big names despite never being well known.

And who he was is who is was.

Odd, I've never seen you come out of the woodwork when someone is bashing (which I wasn't even doing) Floyd, or Canelo, or anyone else.

Not exactly the best way to eulogize a man who life got the best of. I understand you didn't mean it that way, but understand you could have explained your interactions with him more simply (and perhaps maintained the privacy of how you found him dead), explained you learned he was a fighter, and posted what you found about his career.

Floyd and Canelo are not dead and if they pass before me then ill pay my respect.
You on the other hand.. A man passes that never did anything to you and you didn't know and you take a hot steamy shiz on him.

That wasn't the point of my post. I trying to share this guy's story, cause I don't think a fighter who fought Julian Jackson ang others should go unknown.
Everything I described about him is exactly how I interacted with him. If it's too blunt and honest for you then sorry to offend you. I see and deal with people at their worst. Nobody calls me when things are going good.
Nothing I described about him is anything I look down upon as you apparently seem to, so to me was not said out of any disrespect.

Did you go after the guys that talked about Jimmy Bivins being found emaciated and covered in feces living in an attic?

I get it. The purpose of your post was to talk about yourself thats why you lack repect for that man and using a mans passing to do so shows your true colors.
Heres a news flash, no one cares what you do for money. If seeing people at their worst is what you signed up for then deal with it.
You said I feel a certain way for people like that but to the contrary I feel a certain way towards people like you who boost themselves up on others misfortune.

On some level you might be right. Something interesting happened to me at work, and it involved boxing, a sport I'm so fanatical about, that I spend all day on a boxing forum. And I thought others like me, who live in this forum might be interested in it as well. Imagine that.
AND, I was pretty sure not many people even on here knew of Efren Olivos, despite him fighting multiple legends in the sport, so I wanted to get his name out there to a community that might actually appreciate his journey through life.

I am surprised you even like boxing (assuming you do). You come across as a hypersensitive Karen type.

    Have a blessed day

Take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself what you think people will say about you once your gone.
My guess is that they will say you were a grimy slimeball.

People are free to say what they wish. I'm sure you'll be right around the corner telling them to "respect the dead" on my behalf at least..

Unless of course you're a total hypocrite (which something tells me you probably are)

Your right people like you have the right to be wrong and also the right to be a grimy slimeball. The thing is you dont own it. Your trying to portray yourself as something other than what you are. I dont have any respect for that or you.
No Im not going to say much if I feel away about a post just like I did with you. Initially all I said was along the lines of you saying RIP then knocking the guy is being fake and thats it.
Your the one who attempted to explain yourself when I could care less.

Just to point out that without journeyman boxing would probably not exist.

From his record I am not sure he was a journeyman either, they fulfill a different role within the sport. He was getting stopped a lot in the last part of his career, early stoppages too. He's not a fighter I can claim to know much about but the kind of harm he was probably suffering and absorbing does not bear thinking about. From what you said it sounds like someone who life and alcohol got the best of. 60 is no age at all, a personal tragedy obviously but also for those that knew and cared about him too.

I do not mean to get at you and I can imagine in your line of work it's easy, and perhaps necessary, to get desensitised to it all, but no one starts out hoping to end up the way he did.
