Lol, got a bit excited when I saw this. Haven't even had the time to watch it through myself. Our pal, Smooth Legends, just keeps delivering.

    Enjoy.

Oh, I think I'm on the wrong thread.. I thought this was Liston practicing the Phantom punch Thread.

No phantom punches here. Maybe check the Skull Cave thread.

As you will all hear at the start, this is Sonny sparring Big Train (Amos Lincoln). One of the commentators is Al Braverman, who they describe as being part of Liston's camp. Can anyone elaborate on that? I know Braverman of course managed Chuck Wepner when Sonny fought and sliced/diced the Bayonne Bleeder.

Some more Liston sparring footage from SMOOTH LEGENDS. The first clip is very brief, the second clip about 4 mins long. Very good quality: -

In the second video, the first round was done with what looked like those light gloves that had a bar in the palm. There was no contact, no head gear, it was just two fighters shadow boxing with each other, though it did seem like Liston was working on head movement. The second round they put on sparring gloves and head gear, but there was still not much contact. I don't know if the sparring partner was a lighter, quicker guy who was there to show Liston some speed and to let Liston work on defense or if it was just a light day with little contact.

Great observations Pat and I agree.

Imagine if any footage of Sonny sparring Foreman ever comes to light? That would be something.

Smooth doesn’t only clean up footage - he somehow gets his hands on the best footage in the first instance - and some of that footage is also generally unseen until he uploads it. An amazing site.

That left hook that forced a break in sparring in the first video was so short and hard it should have been illegal.
