BT and Queensbury aren't stupid - there would be uproar if that happened. It would be horrendous for their brand.

    Not ****ing Dubois.

How the **** is Dubois a mandatory after beating Lerena? Who knocked him down 3 times in one round? FFS.

In my eyes, the Chisora trilogy is inexcusable under any circumstances as it officially was a title defence. It could have been a stay-busy fight without the belt on the line. It would have sold Wembley out just the same because Fury has a fanatic following. But it was made a voluntary title defence deliberately because WBC is known for their reluctance to order mandatories, especially in HW. Fury knew that by taking Chisora on he can basically do whatever the hell he wants without the WBC batting an eyelid until at least early 2024.

I'll give you one thing though that does give a glimpse of hope about this fight going ahead: John Fury is uncharacteristically quiet these days. We haven't heard from him in what seems to be a very long time (by his standards) as normally, he always talks all kinds of sh**e without too much forethought. For instance, he was the one mentioning the 70/30 split even without Tyson himself posting about it. So it does feel like John was made silent by Team Fury indeed because there is an important announcement to be made soon and they don't want Uncle Fester to spill the beans by accident again.

    It would hold complete validity.
Agreed on your other points though.

I was growing cautiously optimistic that this fight was going to happen, but it sure seems like an announcement this week would still be too late. 6 weeks out?

If this 70/30 split is true, Usyk has already lost this fight. The massive difference in purse split means that Usyk has deliberately taken on the beta boy role to Fury’s Alpha male status, and it’s going to effect his training, sparring and emotional state from now up to the fight. Fury has played a masterstroke here - Usyk’s best move would be to break off and renegotiate a fairer, less dominating contract. Usyk’s probably so diminished by this contact and purse split that he’s already wearing sexy lingerie and moisturising. Terrible mistake by Team Usyk.

Nah it shows him to be a legacy first boxer and a man that doesnt care about money.
Basically the man Fury pretends to be.
Usyk backed him into a cirner by calling his bluff.
Fury either accepts or looks like the biggest ***** ever if he weasels out.

And apparently from all I have read, Fury has still not signed the contract, Even though he’s getting 70% as he asked, and Usyk has now also agreed to know rematch Claus……. still Fury has not signed……this late in the game"

IMO, this is for a reason. Regardless of his bold mouthing, Fury is not taking the fight

    …that would be my guess

Fight isn't happening in April at least. I expect Fury-Ngannou, and Usyk-Dubois next.

Why hasn’t Fury signed the contract?

even though he’s gotten everything he’s asked for

    I don’t think it’s happening

Is there actually even a finalized contract to sign?

I ask because I see a lot of people asking that same question, implying that Usyk already has his name signed on the dotted line.

In any case, I still maintain behind the scenes this is largely all a public charade from both camps. And the way boxing forums have been lit up the past week, I'd say the strategy is working. I believe the fight is happening, but then again, nothing would surprise me. And what the hell do I know?
