If it's the right term to apply here, marginal utility has to be considered. Up to a certain point this BS might've lent to added interest and compulsion to watch - but at least, imo, the utility has flat lined and gone into the negative, so it does make me wonder if it's purely driven by promotional motives. You can concretely confirm a fight and still positively "build" the promotion from there. To have the actual manifestation of the event itself so protractedly and precariously balanced is ridiculous and an absolute insult to the fans. For mine, all that has been promoted is an increasing lack of confidence in the sport and its infrastructure and an increasing drift from the optimal best vs best match ups. Perhaps I'm missing something otherwise.....
I just messaged the WBC on instagram and they responded instantly with 2 paragraphs about how I'm a boxing casual. They must be a bit touchy...
Valid observation, no doubt. But if they wanted an "out", they had one. Weeks ago. And word has it both have already been preparing for a fight. Perhaps not against each other, but if this ISN'T a charade as I still tend to believe, then that makes things even more peculiar in a bizarre Lynchian way. Both sides could have quietly let the WBA deadline expire.
It honestly could be. But what a strategy! With a month to go, their idea of promoting the fight is telling the fans it´s actually off and won´t be happening. That´l get people excited!
The Gypsy King is now used to make millions of dollars fighting the likes of Whyte, Chisora etc. Why should he risk his only belt against the former Olympic gold medalist and unified heavyweight champion Usyk? I think he will fight Eric Molina next and receive another paycheck worth $25M.
UFC is better because of this. Dana White forces the best to fight the best. No ducking possible, if you do, you lose your belt and eventually your career since no one will respect you and some younger and hungrier dude will take your spot.
I agree.... He is outperforming boxing with an inferior product (My opinion) which he manages better than boxing administrators....
If this deal collapses it’s on Fury and a horrible look for him. 70/30 and you can’t close the deal. It’s a duck. Hopefully it gets made
I would've thought we had ample amounts of that by now. This is excess and putting people off. On a side note, I read your posts in Rummy voice. But maybe they believe there's not enough interest from the casuals amd they need more theatrics, and April is too close. Maybe July after more back and forth, more Fury and his mental illness to garner interest, especially as Fury will soon probbaly actually invoke his media blackout policy and that won't help pique the casuals interest.
