The point that Hearn and Jordan were arguing about where Jordan said that Hearn should have been able to terminate the fight based on a disrepute clause whereas Hearn said he couldn’t do that was before from Hearn. That’s a standard clause in footballers’ contracts and you’d imagine most athletes have that in their contracts.

For Hearn to say that he had no contractual right to call off his agreement with Benn in the event of Benn bringing the sport into public disrepute or even as a result of an explicit term about failing a drugs test doesn’t wash with me. Matchroom and Hearn are astute, they know what they are doing and will have had top lawyers draft their fight contracts. I don’t believe Hearn on that point.

I think Eggie is trying to play a fast one here.

    When he says;

"Contractually, I can't/couldn't call of the fight"

What he means is there is a clause in there to call the fight off but because the fighter hasn't been found guilty of anything or because the board hadn't banned him, it doesn't satisfy the criteria of that clause.

This is why he keeps referring to the board not banning him

That must mean if the board found him guilty or banned him, then that would satisfy the clause of the promotor calling off the fight.

Would be quite amusing to see Conor get interviewed by Simon

    This.

Benn failing a UKAD test would have been different as a subsequent ban would have meant the contract could be terminated.

    You understand though right?

He can’t call a fight off as he gets sued by benn and whoever else loses money.

Once bbbofc wouldn’t sanction it he had an option to get someone else to sanction it, but didnt, hence then calling the fight off, and not getting sued in the process

bbbofc should have made the call straight away, they didn’t and I expect they were being pressured to not do so, once it came out publicly they had too.

All that would happen there would be Jordan going through a Thesaurus at rapid fire and Conor going "I didn't do nuffink wrong"

Simon Jordan got found wanting. For all of his endless slating of the banal insufferable Hearn over the past few months, he completely choked in his presence. Seems he unbelievably got basic facts wrong and didn't grill Hearn anywhere near enough on the main issues. Pencil-necked shithouse plonker.

Spencer Oliver would've had a better go at it.

Lol. He didnt do good I'll admit. That's because most of his info comes from IFL TV. He doesn't have inside knowledge like Eddie does so got a few things wrong.

However he did better than the mongs over at Boxing Social and IFL TV.

This is hindsight from me but it would have been good if he picked up on what Eddie was saying when he said contractually I'm obliged to promote the fight. That he couldn't cancel it.

Simon should have asked is there a clause that states if a fighter gets disciplined then the promoter can pull the fight.

That's what Eggie's whole argument is. Bent was never disciplined so they were scot free to carry the fight on.

The BBBofC need some serious reform in their rules and procedures.

Hearn found that session tough but bit on the gumshield when the big bombs came from Jordan.

It was very interesting viewing two evenly matched people getting stuck into each other.

Hopefully get a rematch after Benn fights abroad.

No he couldn't. You know how many people would have needed to get a licence in that short amount of time? The logistics of getting new officials and everything else? If Hearn could have got that fight on he would have.

It's just Hearn trying to make himself look like he gives a ****.

End of the lates Fight Disciplines pulls a lot of yesterdays shouting apart quite nicely. AC is so far clear of everyone else.

Funny how for weeks on end all I’ve read on here is how Hearn won’t go on talk sport with Simon Jordan as he is scared of being grilled. Turns out Simon knows pretty much nothing.

    Agreed

Didn't he cancel one of O'Hara Davies fights with a click of his fingers?

Do you think a fighter would allow a clause for a wide term like that on the side of a promoter. Any promoter could put that in and pull a show with low ticket sales for bringing it in to disrepute. By the way who decides if it is brought in to disrepute?

Usually its a board sanctioning issue.

Gets most of his info from IFL... have a laugh he gets its directly from Spencer Oliver, Ben Shalom and the investor in to Boxxer that he knows very well.
