How does Leon fare against each, and what's the nature of the win or loss? Larry Holmes Mike Tyson Bonecrusher Smith Mike Weaver Carl Williams James Tillis Tyrell Biggs Renaldo Snipes Tony Tucker Buster Douglas Tony Tubbs Trevor Berbick Michael Dokes Tim Witherspoon Gerry Cooney Pinklon Thomas
He loses to all of them except, perhaps, Snipes and Tillis. This is not to say that Neon Leon couldn't beat some of these guys on occasion. It is just to say that Snipes and Tillis are the two he would beat more often than he would lose to them.
He certainly could have. But Cooney wasn't tough either. He could have succumbed if Leon applied instant pressure. But I agree with you. Wouldn't be shocked if Cooney took Leon out right off.
I could see him beating the following as they were inconsistent (as was Leon, but the topic specifies Spinks of Ali I): Bonecrusher Smith — W10 (same as Marvis, just outworks him) Mike Weaver — W10 (I’d favor Weaver but sometimes he didn’t really show up and could give away a lot of rounds) Carl Williams — KO 8 (Carl’s not a good matchup but he wasn’t super sturdy and wasn’t always on his game) James Tillis — W10 (just outworks him) Tyrell Biggs — Maybe … hard to say because Biggs had a short peak Renaldo Snipes — W10 (outworks him) Trevor Berbick — W10 (Trevor was awkward as hell but not always a workhorse) It’s possbile he could catch a lot of guys like Tubbs/Dokes/Witherspoon on a fat/lazy night and outhustle them too.
I honestly think Leon looses to all of those regardless of what kind of physical or mental shape he’s on.
Fogger hits it on the head again! Yep he would probably be Tillis or Snipes. Anyone else, can't see it really.
