I recall Collins begging to fight Jones. Jones was a chump for avoiding him.

 

That was a bit cringe by Collins and embarrassing, for the record, Roy destroys him around that time.

Yes he ducked him for Ruiz, who would have bombed out Collins.

 

Roy would have KoEd this guy, same as he did with Clinton Woods.

 

Came across as a jackass in this 168 round table. Everyone else is content and happy in retirement and Collins thinks he beats Roy and Calzaghe.

So Steve wanted to fight Roy in 2000 when he had already been out of the ring for 3 years straight.

Steve says "Roy Jones wouldn't give me that opportunity to have that one big fight before I retired". Give is the right word. Besides Steve I don't really think that anyone was ever interested in seeing this fight.

 

Collins was asking for $15 million in the mid-90’s!!! to fight Roy Jones. Basically he intentionally priced himself out of the fight and now bitches n moans about it.

Collins three defeats came in the 90s losing to Mcallum Johnson Kalambay,two of those fighters Jones also fought in the 90s and he beat in shut outs being Johnson and Mcallum. Collins had zero chance of beating Jones pre Ruiz and also Collins could have fought Calzaghe but retired instead and so Calzaghe fought Eubank for the vacated WBO belt iirc .

 

Didn't Collins only recieve 1.2 million pounds for the second Eubanks fight?

If he was asking for 15 million for a RJjr fight then he may as well have asked for 150 million dollars cause that was just never going to happen.

Collins was faster than Ruiz and beat better fighters he would have given Roy a better fight than Ruiz did.
