false, he was training mma for years while doing kickboxing. You don't get a bjj belt color if you haven't been doing bjj for long. ie : Clarissa Shields trained in mma for a whole year with greg jackson and still looked green on the ground and lost. Just like Alex lost his debut to a can. He had to cross train for years.
yeah key word after. How do you call him a boxer first when he was actively competing in mma matches before even two fights? Are you ok?
I said Pereira had been training MMA for "years": a period of dabbling in 2015-2016, plus fighting from November 2020 to November 2022. He still had a fraction of the MMA experience of Adesanya. Compare the number of fights, number of fights in the UFC and title fights. Pereira was relatively green but with careful matchmaking still beat the 2nd most accomplished MW in MMA history.
Oh, God, one month difference is a such a long time. I can only imagine how much skills he gained for that serious amount of time which allowed him to go boxing. Saying he was a bouncer and never trained anything before starting to compete, the guy have always been just some street fighter rather, but it takes just a little brain to get it. Lacking it results in more and more stupid posts for which I'll let you do as you easily can.
not relevant what he trained in. i stated earlier a boxer can win against low tier fighters.there are lots of poorly trained bums in low tier regionals. you saw what DC did to him.
The low kick itself is a mid-range at best. But can be thrown from a long one with a step. It's a bit more complicated as a kick, has its variations. Boxers have the best footwork, but yeah, you can stop it with kicks if they tend to attack on the straight line, but not stepping on the outside. In general, it's a weak spot for them, no doubt, as they're used to take body and head strikes, but the low kick is the real hell even if your style involves it.
"Canelo would get grounded by a strong fairly decent high school wrestler who is 16 and over. Canelo would get taken down, and stay down, then follow by ground and pound from mount position. As Canelo try to squirm his way up, he'll turn his back and the wrestler would use a very basic rear naked choke, forcing Canelo to tap." I think this is an interesting hypothetical I was a very experienced high school wrestler starting at age 8 and wrestled up until the end of high school minus a for fun tournament here or there after. I'm not sure if I would have been able to take Canelo at age 16. In an MMA fight we would start at long range and I would have to close the gap in order to take Canelo down. There is always a chance I could hit a really low single at the ankle and like a Couture vs Toney very clean and not get hit. I have a feeling that Canelo's eyes and reflexes might be able to avoid it. Though I took karate for a few years and did some kickboxing I wouldnt be able to rely on leg kicks. Hand to hand I'd be murdered. If I managed to take him down maybe I'd be strong enough to hold down an in their prime world class athlete with man strength at 16. As far as the rear naked choke, I never took BJJ and they dont teach submissions in high school wrestling. Maybe I could do a very basic arm around the neck choke but I dont know how effective it would be In a bar fight, with the element of surprise at close range I would have a better shot but again its crazy to imagine high school me winning a bar fight vs Canelo Alvarez a sure thing hall of fame boxer
Bisping once headkicked a dude in a street fight and good luck to any boxer who wants to stand with Wonderboy as they getting side kicked on concrete lol
He said after fighting Cormier he realized he knew nothing about kicking or grappling so went to boxing instead.
The worst heavyweights in UFC could take down the best Heavyweights in boxing and pound them out into submission. Guys like Canelo and Bivol wouldn't stand a chance even in the striking department with a guy like Stephen Thompson.
