WTF…. YES. HE DID. It’s common knowledge. Please at least educate yourself before posting in here will you Ace!
Your opinion on anything is completely meaningless to me. You have serious comprehension issues and you have no concept of anything. No, Collins didn’t clearly beat Eubank. Common knowledge? Read carefully: HBO would NOT air a Collins fight in 1999. Would you like a quote from Lou DiBella?? Yes, Benn was done. He should never have come out of retirement after losing to Malinga. He even had to put a bet on himself as a motivational tool. He was at the end of the road. Regarding Usyk-Chisora, this is now the SECOND time that you have thrown this at me. Yet you have confused me with another member. I have literally NEVER mentioned the Chisora fight in ANY of my posts. You’re really struggling here. I suggest that you read through people’s posts properly before you start attackimg them. It’ll save you from embarrassing yourself.
McCallum was unproven at super middle despite have a 78 inch reach, his best weight was 154, his power faded at 160 and he had more struggles in fights at that weight, I don`t think he would have been a great SMW and that Calzaghe would have beat him at that weight.
No, he didn’t. You have no knowledge of the subject. Here are the facts: In early 1997, Collins’ team offered Roy $2m for a fight at SMW. However, at the time, Roy was in camp to fight Griffin at LHW, with one eye on unifying with Hill afterwards. Yet by the time that Roy had rematched Griffin in the summer, Collins had retired. Then again, in 1999, Collins came out of retirement to challenge Roy in Pensacola. But again, HBO would not air the fight. Collins hadn’t fought at LHW, or in 2 years, and they were under pressure to deliver what they perceived to be a more substantial fight. They wanted Roy to unify the division with Reggie Johnson, who was the IBF champion. They wanted that undisputed LHW match up. That is a direct quote from Lou DiBella. He did offer Collins a lifeline though, by stating that if he came back into the mix, he would consider the fight in the near future. Collins then got a slot on the undercard of Calzaghe’s fight against Rick Thornberry. But he never got to fight, as he was injured in sparring, before being advised to retire by a doctor. He then permanently retired. Those are the facts. Your whining is completely irrelevant.
Of course he’d have been a great SMW. Look who he fought and beat at MW. Most of them moved up to SMW. Mike was a great fighter. He didn’t need knockout power in order to have beaten those SMW’s.
He struggled more at 160 than 154, the guys that moved up and did well didn`t start at 154 except Roy Jones who was naturally bigger than light middles and middles anyway.
My mistake. So many years ago you forget best weights etc. Think joe probably slightly a bit too big starting out at 168 than the rest of them. Would have been interesting all things being even.
It’s not that he struggled, he just fought a bigger group of great fighters. It’s a real shame that Mike, Hopkins and Reggie didn’t fight at SMW. What a division that would have been.
Yes I agree but let’s be honest both Eubank and Benn were both at the tail end of there careers at this point and both were Collins best wins imo, however both wins over Eubank despite being close fights they were still very good wins .
Lets not forget that McCallum did a clean sweep of three of the top Brits in a row, Graham Collins Watson
He did avoid him by asking for too much money. He priced himself out of the matchup intentionally and he did that because he knew he couldn’t win. I’ve got an article where the great Shelly Finkel was talking about the offer / ‘negotiations’ and how Jones couldn’t get anyone to bite at 168. Collins sucks.
