Not really, Benavidez was landing over and over despite Plants clinching. He just doesn't have crazy power.

I think the Canelo fight taught him how to at least survive, even if he had to make it look ugly. He never allowed Benavidez to get clean combinations, even when he landed multiple it was one clean shot, then everything else was smothered partially.

If Plant was warned for holding this would have been a completely different fight. He sure as heck wasn’t allowed that with Canelo
