Good call. That's interesting for sure.

Sometimes these physical pressure fighters lose their magic and look average though when they're not the bigger man... still though, I'd be up for that match up.

    Plant is his own size.

The only bad blood there is between Benavidez Sr and Canelo. From all i've seen David has been pretty respectull of Canelo.

I didn't like how canelo looked against ggg to be honest. That version of Canelo could lose to Benavidez. The version who beat plant beats Benavidez but we don't know how much canelo has left if he's faded he will lose to Benavidez.

I think Canelo's stamina is even worse than Plant's. So it'll probably really all depend on if DB can take Canelo's power. If he can, I could see him outworking the Ginger.

I agree, just saying it would have gone both ways in terms of warnings, but I agree with your premise.

Seems like Plant got in a lot of heads of guys on here. I think he did well, went the distance and never dropped and took a few rounds. Lot of people were expecting an early stretch out for him. Didn’t happen.

This. Benavidez best attributes is his stamina and durability. Does that durability carry up to 175? Yarde is a massive puncher. Callum Smith could also put him down.

I think it would be a lot like Canelo/Kovalev. Canelo just bowling forward with a high guard and countering Benavidez straight punches with hooks.

I like how effectively DB was able to continue to punch Plant while Plant was holding. Probably due to his long arms and bigger size but still, very good ability to have that not enough fighters are good at.

No, most people had Benevidez winning by late stoppage. Go look at the prediction thread. And it's what would have happened if there was a competent referee tonight.

Entertaining fight, Davids pressure eventually got the best of plant, but i came out with more respect for plant for sure. I've been feeling like Benavides has been fighting a class lower than he should be for a while, but now I know the reasoning, he wouldn't survive well at 175, at least against elite guys. And I'm less convinced he can beat Canelo than I already was..

He beat the **** out of Plant. His ring iq is solid in and out of the ring. Poor defense? He looks very clean for a guy who just did 12 rounds.

1 thing I know about beating Benavidez is you better have some power and you better have some stamina… There’s a few guys around his division that have enough power to keep him honest but the ones who don’t will not beat him.

It sure didn’t sound like there’s bad blood based on that post-fight interview and I’ve never even heard canelo mention David, and David doesn’t seem to have a real problem with Canelo, he just wants his shot.
    Hope that fight happens though.
