I think that's a fair view. I'm not sure I agree, but I get it.

aside from Benavidez starting out slower with the pressure, it went pretty close to what i expected. wore him down enough to where he was a sitting duck in the last rds. took that split second from plants reaction time, just enough to catch him at will at the end. i think if he would have started at a faster pace he would have stopped him inside 10.
i think Benavidez was working on his defense more for this fight, thats why the constant pressure was missing most of the fight. he was also working that left hook all night, i could tell they built their game plan around that counter.
i think bayless affected the fight, prevented the fight from developing naturally. too involved for the wrong reasons.

Just caught the highlights - pretty much unfolded as expected - Benavidez starting slow and wearing Plant down - my only surprise is he never got the stoppage.

Would rather see Canelo vs Benavidez than Bivol II

Was extremely happy to see Benavidez beatdown the greasy trailer park guy. That said, neither man looked all that impressive in the ring. I wonder how much of this is due to Plant's slick, negative, survival mode style. It's always hard to look good against a guy not even trying to win the fight.

Kenny Bayless is the "gold standard" in championship boxing refereeing. Of course us actual fans know that he sucks at his job and doesn´t even know the actual rules.
 But I love how confused the SHO commentators were when it came to Bayless warning Benavidez for blatant fouls"that's bizarre". It´s as if fouling is OK when the other guy is doing it and it´s as if none of those stooges had ever seen Bayless referee a fight. That old fool has his own rule set he adheres to and that includes allowing holding and stiff-arming.

Fun fight. Both guys showed the best they had. Plant has improved quite a bit since winning the IBF belt. But he still has some glaring flaws and it mostly has to do with his style/stance. Too often after punching does he just end up stuck in a neutral position and his opponents have the split second window to treat him like a punching bag. It´s why someone like Truax was able to light him up. Plant NEEDS to learn how to fight on the inside instead of playing what is basically rock em sock em robots.
Benavidez is not as one dimensional as made out to be. He has a lot of unorthodox and sneaky tactics, one of my favorites being his back hand that he at times uses almost as a jab. Overall it was a much better fight than most predicted. Worth the watch, but not the PPV. ****ing crooks.
Canelo vs Benavidez will be a heck of a night, great matchup of styles.

    TLDR; Bayless sucks. Good fight.

Plant is a bit of a gimmick & Benavidez probably walks around at 200lbs+.. its pure shite boxing lately.. what is the best win between these two? A 40 year old Direll brother .. a wigger versus a drained CW pot head... beautiful

Just saw on replay. Had it 117-111 Benavidez. The commentators trying to portray this as a close fight until the final few rounds .... it stopped being close after round 4. I'll give Plant some credit - his chin is good.
