Here are two metrics by which Stiverne's record is superior, the first being vitally important: 1. Parker has KO'd 0(!) of his top 11 opponents, including Cojanu (KO'd in 2 by Ortiz the fight after) and Fa (KO'd in 1 by Browne the fight after). Stiverne KO'd top 10 Arreola in 6, messed him up far worse than Vitali or Wilder. Those facts alone establish Stiverne as prima facie a far more dangerous fighter to those who can reliably outbox Parker. 2. The highly regarded Ring magazine ranked Stiverne as the 3rd best heavyweight in the world (2014), whereas Parker has never been ranked above 4th (2017).
How anyone can be lied to as much as they have by Tyson Fury and still be a fan is amazing. This really is a social experiment in blind following.
We’ve just lived through the greatest social experiment in blind following in history… All bets were off after that
Stiverne only beaten one so called named opponent that's Arrreola(apart that he only low level journeymen types). Parker on the other hand has beaten Ruiz, Chisora, Takam and Hughie, all whom have far better records in terms of beating quality opposition than Stiverne.
Disagree. Wald is clearly both Fury and AJs best win. I rate Povetkin, at the time that AJ beat him, higher than Parker.
it's obviously his best win. Joshua vs Parker was one of worst fights i've ever seen, can you even call it a fight?
Indeed. Disgraceful bodyguard referee and the usual too wide A-side scorecards. The fact that they felt the need to protect Joshua that much against a fighter as tame and inoffensive as Parker (0 KO's against his best 11 opponents, including Cojanu and Fa) tells me a lot about what they thought of AJ's chin/heart/engine even at that stage.
It's well documented that Wilder turned down multiple offers to fight AJthat were over double his career high purses at time. Wilder himself confirmed in a interview that could of fought AJ instead of Fury for much more money but in his own words decided to fight Fury as he "felt sorry for him". Wilder also sacked a long serving manager of his for organizing sit down negotiations with a senior member of DAZN, Haymon, Finkel and Wilder to discuss a possible AJ fight(s). Wilder manager who was sacked in the spot after this meeting confirmed Wilder, Finkel and Haymon has no intention of making the fight. Fury on the other hand rejected 40% split offer when he no world title. Frank Warren confirmed that they received offer and he referred to it as derisory. Fury also pulled negotiations when Arum stated Wilder had no leg to stand on from legal point of view for their arbitrations. Fury then pulled out negotiations late last year in which AJ accepted 40% split offered by Fury's team. During negotiations Hearn and Chisora confirmed that Fury offered Chisora the fight as negotiations were still going on, Charr and Kayabel also stated that they were sent contracts and signed them. Fury's team pulled out negotiations and fought Chisora instead.
true, good points. The referee is brought up a lot. The referee was used not only to protect Joshua but also to give an excuse for such a boring fight. The fact is Parker as you said is so timid. He had no ambition even though Joshua was there for the taking as Ruiz showed
It was more entertaining than Fury vs Wlad, that said, vs Parker still probably the least entertaining AJ has had.
You've completely missed the point. Parker is ok against the Ruiz-Chisora-Takam-Hughie types, at least if he has A-side advantage (Ruiz, Chisora 1 and Hughie were all disputed decisions). But he has proven to be USELESS at stopping anyone above Cojanu/Fa level. So if he isn't the A-side (Whyte, Joshua) or if he's simply overmatched in terms of pointfighting ability (Joyce), Parker is screwed every time. Whereas a fighter with the punching power and skill to KO top 10 Arreola in 6 still has a chance when he's the B-side or against a higher level pointfighter. And Stiverne brought a lot of durability and determination to the table in his fights against Arreola x2 and Wilder, determination that Parker has pretty much never shown. I don't see how Chisora, Takam and Hughie have beaten anyone significantly better than 2013/2014 Arreola, who had previously given Vitali one of his harder fights and in his final fight at 40+ (seemingly semi-retired) dropped AJ-conqueror Ruiz and went 12 rounds. Chisora beat Pulev but it was very close in Britain, Pulev was 41 and had very little power, Chisora also beat 0 KO's or KD's against his 10 best opponents Takam and the gutless but skilled Scott, both by stoppage. Takam's best win is still 42 year old Tony Thompson by 9-3 decision at home... Hughie's best win is a near-shut out over 40+ Wach or Rudenko... They've got a bit more quantity than Stiverne in terms of wins (well, Chisora does) but not a better single win than Arreola KO6.
