Used to fancy Benavides ... now leaning towards Canelo.

Alvarez knocks him the **** out at 168, Benavidez is one dimensional.

I know Canelo did a better job on Plant, I thought Plant won about 3rds vs Canelo and I gave him 4 of the first 5 vs Benavidez and possibly 1 after that but what I will say is I think the referee spoiled a stoppage for Benavidez. Plant got away with a ridiculous amount of holding in that fight as it went on and he was getting hurt.

In the second half of that fight Plant should have had points taken and possibly been disqualified. Baylees also interfered far to much and when Benavodez was about to unload it looked like he couldn't get full swing otherwise he'd hit Baylees. He also separated them too much and stopped the action to look at Plant's cut when he was badly hurt and looked like he was going.

I got Benavidez by TKO or decision.

Benavidez has a lot of physical advantages and he knows how to use them. Canelo is not a hugger like Plant, so he is going to get punished on the inside and outside. If Canelo think he can stay in mid-range and expect Benavidez to cover up while he wail away, he's going to be for a surprise.

Canelo has stamina issues in the 2nd half of the fight. As you saw last night, Benavidez has an engine to go 15 rounds. Canelo will do well in the first 6 rounds, but Benavidez will take over and start punishing Canelo in the last half of the right.

This. But it’ll be very close. 7-5 either way, 6-5-1. Or even 6-6. Either way, Canelo will get the decision.

That's what happens when each fighter goes through a fight without fighting each other, the opinions just flip over one way or another depending on what we see, changing the consensus.

Benavidez does have a better engine, being younger is even more advantageous for him, but even he was somewhat slower & tired in the later rounds against Plant, he could have been over trained too due to switching his opponents midway from Uucategui to Plant,

Either way Canelo is great at body punching & that can slow either guy out immediately.

I'm just looking at their performances against a common opponent.

Yeah it's just funny how one fight can change everyone's opinion completely one way or another, yet when people match other atg/ dream matches their predictions are usually so a matter of fact when in reality it isn't so.

Here's one reason why I think Benavidez will beat Canelo.

The sequence at the 11 second mark, where Benavidez countered Lemieux. And then the 56 second mark.

Now why are these sequence important? Because it's the same type of combinations that Canelo loves to employ.

Go to 6:18 of this video and watch this sequence. Canelo tries to wail away and got countered by the same hook twice.

The difference is that Benavidez is a big puncher and he's much more willing to counter in those moments than Bivol because he is an offensive counter puncher/pressure fighter. Bivol is more calculated, where as Benavidez will find any opportunity to punch Canelo. Benavidez is also fast enough to land those counters.

Do not underestimate Benavidez. He will study the Bivol fight and he know when he'll need to counter. And when he lands one of counters, it'll going to be a lot more painful for Canelo.

I think Benavidez’s tall/straight stance would be an easy target for Canelo’s body work. Both are slow starters, but you can’t have Canelo constantly digging at your body while you’re trying to get a rhythm going. Canelo takes it for me.

Was Canelo still Canelo to you in his last two fights?

Benavidez looked better in the Lemieux fight & i know the perspective of level in opponent, i just think he played way to smart & gave Plant too much respect in that regard, plus he looked more filled out in his physique alone there then he did last night.

Canelo by close decision but as he continues to fall off it’s getting closer to a 50/50 fight.

    Neither man stops the other.
