Most elite fighters fight twice a year. It’s basically just Usyk who has only been fighting once a year since 2019.

You write all that, but Wilder would be a top 3 win for Usyk (assuming he beats Wilder, which isn’t a given at all).

Usyk has a better chin and is more elusive than Fury, who in Wilder 1 and 3 was out of shape and/or not at his peak. But despite getting dropped still beat Wilders ass. So why would Usyk lose to Wilder?

Yeah that's not how it works. If the WBA appointed mandatory is not available, which Dubois isn't; then the next in line is the IBF. Meaning unless Wilder plans to find the time to fight Hrgovic in the next few weeks before prepping for Usyk, this is just a call out for attention.

See Anthony Joshua, Kubrat Pulev, Carlos Takam, 2017.

Takam fulfilled the mandatory defense. Takam was rated #3.

But, it's up to the WBA. Totally unpredictable.

Wilder doesn't deserve a title shot. Time for the young up and comers to get their shot.

The article yesterday from WBN titled "Usyk 'ducked' - but Deontay Wilder more intriguing fight' (link doesn't work here) buried the lead.

Deontay Wilder was asked at the Benavidez-Plant card last Saturday if Finkel was negotiating with Usyk's team about the fight.

Wilder's response was: “I’m not allowed to say.”

Finkel working the phones ... looking to see who needs an envelope to step aside.

    Still hope for Usyk-Wilder.

hopefully Wilder if he faces usyk beats him as i think he would because he is just so good... and then Wilder and Fury can meet for all the belts who wouldn't want to see that? They put on three amazing nights that will always be remembered. maybe the fourth would be the best

Nobody other than Wilder needs him as champ again

Not a bad fight considering. I would think if not Dubois, Hrgovic, but I would rather see Wilder.

    Usyk wins every round.

Usyk wins every round then gets touched and goes down and that's the fight. I'd be supremely impressed if he can avoid that right hand for 12 rounds.
