Lewis has about 20 big wins. Martin Rogan is one of Fury’s top 10 wins. Fury is miles behind Lewis’s cv.
Lewis has two marquee wins, two dreadful losses to wide underdog fringe contenders and a lot of 2nd/3rd rate filler. Fury's top 10 wins thus far: Wlad, Wilder, Wilder, Wallin, Cunningham, Whyte, Chisora, Chisora, Chisora, Hammer Rogan barely figures at the backend of Fury's top 20, if at all.
We can all engage in revisionism. I could say that Takam was lucky to escape with a draw because he headbutted Perez, opening up a bad cut. Perez decided not to quit in round 3, which would have given Takam a no-contest. Jennings was 6th ranked primarily because he gave Wlad one of the three most competitive wins of his reign, losing 9-3 over 12 rounds to the P4P No.2. He also gave Joyce his most competitive fight thus far and didn't get squashed like Dubois, Takam and Parker. Joshua was never lineal or Ring champion, he didn't dethrone Wlad. His position as consensus No.1 was always contentious and unproven as he'd never beaten the dominant reigning champ. At the start of 2018 Fury was still Ring champion and in 2019 Joshua got crushed by a 25-1 underdog fringe contender who was previously unranked, so people were rightly questioning how good Joshua was. Ruiz had already lost to Parker after all, albeit controversially in Parker's backyard. It shouldn't be surprising as you downgrade fighters who lose, at least those you don't like. Wilder was your 4th top heavyweight on "resume and form" going into Fury 2 wasn't he? Losing horrendously to a "bum" in Ruiz tanked Joshua's ranking a few places and rightly so. Hence Fury and Wilder were generally regarded as the top 2, including by Ring. Even now Ring rates Wilder above Joshua, they did in two of the three fights that Fury beat Wilder because Joshua couldn't stop losing in upsets.
https://eyeonthering.com/boxing/john-mcdermott-vs-tyson-fury 4.4/5 fan rating https://eyeonthering.com/boxing/conspiracy-fury-tyson-fury-vs-johnmcdermott-ii 4.3/5 fan rating Stepping up to British title level as a 7-0 just-turned 21 year old with 35 amateur bouts was a bold move. Look at the mainly cruiserweight-sized cans Lewis was fighting in his first 8 fights at 23/24 with almost 3x the amateur bouts that Fury had. It's cool if you don't like Fury but let's not make stupid claims about him not being in good/exciting/competitive fights. If the heavyweight division is "all about KO's" as you've repeatedly claimed then you must regard Holyfield as a boring fighter. You have to ignore this retort because you have no leg to stand on.
I came in at the end, am not even following the argument, and I just want to say that this is exactly fair. It is about who you beat, and Lewis beat everyone he could get his hands on, when he could get his hands on them, even if he had to go back to the drawing board a couple of times to do it.
Rogan is a far better win for Fury than Chisora 3 who you've listed. That Chisora was like the corpse of Danny Williams that did his Lativan tour in his shot years. Fury's cv is shocking considering it's nearly a decade since he became the man in the division. That's not my fault he can't be bothered to face the top of the pile. Hey, I can play boxrec too. Mike Tyson's win over Larry Holmes is far better than Fury's over Waldo because old Larry, 4 years after this fight would go on to ice Ray Mercer.
Spot on. Besides W and W, Tyson hasn't beaten anyone worth talking about. And he has more kids than title defences. His CV for a pro since 2008 when it comes to depth is thin. The Klit victory was 8 years ago! Klit has been retired for a good few years now. Wilder is the king of the hypejobs who beat a timid nordic dude in his first fight back & hasn't done anything since. Since then Tiresome has ran from a middleVEIGHT. His run isn't the stuff of legends. I cannot open Boxing News or The Ring, look at the rankings, from 2014 to now and tick off 6/10 of the top 10 listed and say Tiresome has beaten them. You boyzzzz are on major league damage control. Face it, Tiresome Fairy has had your pants down and you are gutted you got got.
Stepping upto British level at 7-0, that was around the time he punched himself in the face? I do like Fury read my previous posts from this thread and the last couple of years. I just don’t cream my knickers over him. I haven’t repeatedly mentioned anything, I mentioned it once. You’re comparing him to Holyfield, a man that weighed 205lbs naturally and needed steroids to bulk up whereas Fury is one of the biggest boxers to grace this earth. Holyfields war with Bowe is more exciting than fury’s 30 fights combined, he also fought prime Tyson twice and ruled the cruiserweight division.
Damage control is correct, I hope the posters are kids as it’s strange for grown adults to waste so much time and effort to convince complete strangers that Fury v Seferi was better than Pacquiao v Morales.
So so happy that Tiresome has been exposed. His followers are like rats fleeing a sinking ship. Glorious times! This is more entertaining than his career!! Bellew > Tiresome.
Fury's 2 best wins are against an old Wlad in an absolute snoozefest. And Wilder who has a big punch but is a crap boxer. How does this make him anywhere near as good as Lewis? The reason Fury is the best heavyweight (or number 2 after Usyk) at the moment is because the current crop of heavyweights is crap and he is miles bigger than anyone else. Whoever thinks Fury is the best heavyweight ever needs their head testing
"Rogan" Rogan had recently been stopped in 6 rounds by Sam Sexton (who a green Chisora KO'd twice), Chisora had recently beaten Pulev, who had recently schooled Forrest. In the fight prior to Pulev, Chisora gave Parker a war over 12 rounds. He was still levels above Rogan. If Rogan's in Fury's top 20 it's by the skin of his teeth. He can't plausibly be placed above Pajkic, Firtha, McDermott x2, Page or Abell. "Fury's cv is shocking" He's got more marquee wins than Lewis, hasn't been banjoed twice and is a 34 year old active fighter. He's doing fine. "Mike Tyson's win over Larry Holmes is far better than Fury's over Waldo. Holmes iced Mercer" Holmes had already been beaten x2 by a LHW and was coming off an almost 2 year layoff as a massive underdog. And Holmes didn't "ice" Mercer lol, he outhustled him over 12 rounds. Povetkin also got results while 40+ against Hunter and Whyte, it doesn't make a win over Povetkin better than a win over Wlad at the same age. Had Wlad fought small, lighter punching opponents past 40 he would have also got old man wins. He came damn close to beating Joshua in Britain at 41. Wlad was a historically long-reigning champ, P4P No.2, 4/1 favourite, 6'5+ athletic, master pointfighter with massive power. And world title debut Fury set the all time 12 round statistical defensive record for a contender against a champion, along with winning 8-4/9-3 in Wlad's backyard. It's arguably the most impressive performance of its kind (12 round pointfighting) in heavyweight history. It's not in the same category as early KO wins.
