It's abundantly clear to me that Fury doesn't care that much about boxing anymore. He clearly ducked Usyk, and is just waiting for one big payday before retiring. Who else is worth risk and time for Fury now than AJ? I don't think he has any interest in mandatories, and his next mandatory will likely be Ruiz, and that wont have to happen until december 2023. I see only one fight in Fury's future, and that's AJ vs Fury, which, despite only being for one, belt, will be much bigger than Fury vs Usyk or AJ vs Usyk. AJ vs Fury still dwarf's any fight that could possibly be made anywhere in boxing right now. I also have a feeling that if it does happen, AJ will redeem himself because I feel by the time it happens, Fury will be even more of an out of shape fatass, and AJ will want it more. Don't care if y'all think I'm an AJ fanboy tbh, what other fight makes sense for Fury, besides Usyk, than Joshua? Either he fights Usyk or AJ or its retirement. I don't see Fury sticking around to do mandatories.
Think it will depend how AJ fares against Franklin on Sat. If he obliterates him and looks hungry, reckon Fury prices himself out, again, and fights Wilder. If AJ puts on an average performance, definitely see it happening next.
I’ve never read anyone as obsessed with discussing Fury vs AJ than you. Nothing wrong with that as such, and it’s a fight everyone would like to see I suspect, but it does seem to fill a great deal of your thoughts.
Because it's the fight I want to see more than anything really. There isn't a better fight in boxing right now IMO.
Fair enough - as for your original post, I disagree re: Fury not coming in in shape. This fight will be an enormous ego thing for him - he’ll train very hard ala Klitschko / Wilder 2.
Is that because it's a heavyweight bout? Because there are 4-5 other fights to be made just as good, if not better.
A good big guy is better than a good little guy. AJ vs Fury is just far better entertainment value on and off the ring. Name me a fight better in any division? Not just in terms of the quality of fight but also the likely hood of an explosive KO ending, and also all the drama and personalities involved? I don't see any fight in any division doing better PPV wise than this.
No interest in seeing Fury fight that hypejob bum. If he's not going to fight Usyk next then he should deny Hearn/Joshua the payday and beat up AJ-conqueror fat Andy instead, fight Usyk after that.
