There was never a point where Williams became champion. A comparable Williams statement about wins within the top ten only applies to champions.

I would be interested if you can “rustle” us up a top ten that includes Williams and perhaps two other names he knocked out though. That would be rather interesting indeed.

Really? Wasn’t cavicchi in the NBA ratings much of 1955-56’. Cavicchi remained unbeaten from his first inclusion of the top ten until the loss to Ingo so one would assume, since Ingo became a permanent feature in all top tens from beating Cavicchi until challenging for the title, that It was because Franco, as Euro champ, had a rating.

Of course he was world level as a contender though. Close fights with other contenders just short of championship level. Nothing wrong with that.
