Genuine question, why? The fact he steps into most fights without caring isn't a likeable quality, its more he knows he's a limited fighter who needs controversy to sell and feeds off the big boys. Personally, I just don't see anything to like about the bloke.
"I just don't see anything to like about the bloke." He's certainly a thug and a repulsive character but he does have a lot of heart and the toughest record in the division (six fights against Ring champions). And while he's a limited fighter in that he hasn't ever won at the highest level, many believe he should be 1-1 with Whyte and Parker. And by official consensus he won as many rounds on the scorecards against Vitali and Usyk as Byrd, Lewis, Briedis and Joshua 2 (more than Joshua 1).
Don’t mind him at all, he’s a unique character thats brought entertainment to the sport (for me personally anyway), had a few screw loose moments throughout his career but you can’t knock the man for continuing this long, he does fight anyone and everyone. He just doesn’t care what he has to do to get a fight. I’ve seen a lot of in his interviews, not only with IFL but Radio Rahim, MJP,l or appearing as a guest on Talksport and he’s a straight talker. It’s boxing guys, not tap dancing.
The convicted female partner spanker/beater is a plodder in the ring and delivered fairly close to the square root of zero wearing boxing gloves.
That is fair - both the repulsive character and the achievements. However, his performances is his last two fights have been completely flat, his speech patterns have noticeably changed since his last beating by Fury and I think everyone would agree he is now completely shot. Fury done Chisora no favours carrying him that long and for a long-term health perspective a quick brutal knockout would probably have been better than a sustained beating. You can argue that he has contributed something but that the best thing for himself and the sport is now for his to retire into obscurity. I would say the only real interest anyone has in Whyte-Chisora is a morbid curiosity as to who is the most shot. Although, for me it's not really a question and think Whyte wins quite easily despite his many issues.
There are degrees and varieties of shotness, like "prime" itself it's a vague concept. Chisora certainly showed a better chin against Fury than Whyte did. Chisora is probably more athletically shot but Whyte's chin is very likely inferior (unless the 3rd Fury beating compromised Chisora totally). Chisora hurt Whyte several times in their first fight when Whyte's chin was better, perhaps Whyte gets KO'd this time like Takam. Both men can still throw a decent number of punches judging from the Pulev 2 and Franklin fights. Whyte has more pressure on his shoulders than Chisora and is in worse form. Whyte will be the favourite and officially won the first two fights, so if he gets KO'd in the trilogy by a 39 year old, 1 win in his last 5 Chisora, he'll be retiring in short order too and with an inferior legacy to the "13 loss journeyman" (which is why I suspect this fight falls through). Whyte's been KO'd badly in 2 of his last 4 and his only two wins were a medically unfit, sub-Parkinson's Ali Povetkin and the MD over Franklin, which is certainly no better than Chisora's SD over Pulev (who'd recently schooled Forrest, who many believe beat Franklin). I venture that Chisora's been fighting the better competition for a while now (Usyk, Parker x2, 40+ Pulev and Fury vs 40+ Wach, 40+ Povetkin x2, Fury and Franklin), which keeps an old fighter sharper and making improvements or adjustments to compensate for decline. Chisora has a stronger character than Whyte. When Whyte was a big A-side and things were going his way he loved it but he's picked up a couple of losses now and wants to pack it in. Chisora's had 5 losses by MD/SD, been 0-3 twice in his career, 2-3 an additional time and he's always come back, tried his best and picked up an underdog win eventually (Scott, Takam, Pulev 2). There are also the fights he signed for but that didn't transpire: Wlad and Wilder, arguably the two hardest punchers ever, further underlining the insanity (but pugilistic strength) of his character. Chisora won't want this to be his last fight (because he's a lunatic) and he'll want revenge. Perhaps Whyte bombs him out early this time but I lean toward it being a war.
I just hope that Dillian Whyte gives him a beating akin to the one Floyd dished out to Gatti back in 2005.
Used to have a real soft spot for him, that Takam win was remarkable. But he's done now, punchy and has no business at anything beyond British level imo. hang them up and just continue being the hype sweary man for that Saudi money.
It's amazing he still has relevance in 2023. In his 'prime' he was an admittedly game fighter but still just a B-level plodder. No-one thought of him as a top fighter or even a potential one. How he's featured on several PPVs and cultivated a cult following is beyond me. It's a knock-on effect of AJ mania that guys like him, Whyte and Bellew have managed to coin it in. No wonder they love him so much. The guy is just a garden variety scum bag. Farage supporter, spits at people and beats women. All somehow sold as a banterrific working class hero.
