While I'm pulling for Zhang to cause an upset, I agree with your prediction. I think the first chunk of this fight will be competitive but by the end Zhang will run out of gas and be outpointed. I feel like Zhang's best chance is knocking Joyce down a couple of times, if not knocking him out, and for a guy who has never been down as a professional, that's a big ask. Regardless though, I'm really pumped up for this one. Dunno if it's a fight of the year candidate but I know I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of it.

Just curious, who did you have winning between Zhang and Hrgovic? I personally felt Zhang did enough to win but the fight was close enough that either guy getting their hand raised was fine.

I think not only does Joyce win this, but he stops Zhang too.

I fully agree that Joyce's chin will get tested yet again early on, but he will soak it up and grind down and fully overwhelm Zhang from the 5th round on.

I can't wait for the first bell!. I'm a huge Joyce fan first and foremost, but I like Zhang too.

Great review, Rummy. Joyce's hand are so slow you can watch this video in between his punches, whereas Zhang has, as you pointed out, fast Ruiz like hands. I'm interested to see if Joyce can be effective backing up; although Zhang fought going back vs Hrgovic so maybe that won't be an issue.

Zhang is the oldest 39 year old I've seen since Luis Ortiz claimed to be 39 a few decades back

 

Good analysis. I think Rumsfeld broke it down perfectly. Zhang's best bet imho is to have a cardio-oriented camp so that he can keep up better with Joyce's gas tank and hope that his flashier punching gets the judges approval. That said you never know. If you had to pick a guy to crack JJ's chin you could do a lot worse than Big Bang.
