Fighters nobody has said are overrated on this forum?

Haha I like Mayweather…I don’t think I’ve seen someone say Duran is over rated. Usually the four kings get a pass around here for everything. They were great after all and have very few haters.

 

Hearns comes to mind. People might argue about where he fits in the rankings at WW and 154, but pretty much everyone here considers him an ATG at both weights and a legit force at MW and LHW. So if you count like "I don't think he's number 1 I think he's number 3" as calling someone overrated, then nevermind.

The lighter weight guys also. I think sometimes people just aren't as sure of themselves to be critical. I can't think of anyone ever saying like Eder Jofre or Roman Gonzalez are overrated. There's something about fighting WW or above though where nobody is above criticism.

But i'm quite sure if you search any fighter in this forum you will find some post from some time where someone called the fighter overrated in some context.

I've seen most ATGs called overrated at one time or another at least once on here. I can't recall ever seeing Kid Gavilan, Tommy Ryan or Sandy Sadler ever called overrated, though.

 

Pernell Whitaker for one, and for good reason...

 

Gonzalez has been called overrated numerous times. Especially when he was a P4P king. To your last point, Every fighter becomes overrated once a fan is either ignorant and dislikes a particular style.

 

Iv never heard anyone say Ricardo Lopez was overrated. Now that I think about it I cant remember the last time I saw a post about him. IBHOF inductee , 4 title wins and a better record than Floyd Mayweather. Its interesting how he always flies under the radar, or maybe I'm not paying enough attention.
