My point is he would find Foreman easy to counter after slipping a lot of his shots.

Yes I realize that. I also realize an ancient Hoylfield fought nothing like Foreman.

No he wouldn't. The huge telephone pole jab and Foreman's mauling/shoving tactics would give him problems. Toneys short arms, slow feet, and lack of power make this an extremely difficult fight. A prime Hoylfield didn't have an easy night countering Foreman, a fat past his prime Toney isn't going to have an easy time countering him. Especially if Toney is going life and with with the crude Samuel Peter.

Yes but this goes again to the Peter point which is just not a strong point. But I have no problem with anybody saying Foreman would beat Toney.

Holy was quicker than Foreman when he fought Toney and in better shape too.

His short arms would be a problem but his hands were quicker than Foreman`s, Toney may have been fat but was in better shape v Holy than Foreman was v Holy.

Peter beat him in the rematch so even if you think Toney got robbed, it doesn't change the fact Toney went life and death with a crude slugger. It shows what level Toney at HW was at.

Foreman had an old man gut and flabs, but do not let his innocent grandpa expressions fool you. He was the most physically powerful boxer in history when he fought Hoylfield. Being in shape isn't about having an impressive body builder physique.

Hand speed wouldn't mean much when Toney is getting beaten to the punch by a long heavy jab and pushed back. Foreman beat several guys who had faster hands.

Foreman beat Moorer and should have gotten the decision against Briggs. That right there was there was better than Toney heavyweight resume.

Foreman was being soundly out-boxed by Moorer until the last round of that fight and Briggs was just a brawler and nothing more, Toney was far harder to hit than Briggs.

Peter was stronger and had a much better gas tank.

I’d disagree on both points. Peter had no KOs of anyone of note and old Foreman had a fine gas tank.

Peter knocked out a champion in Maskaev and had Wlad down multiple times. Old Foreman never showed the kind of stamina and intensity that Peter did against Wlad.

Additionally, Toney had slipped a lot by the time he fought Peter, and many think he deserved the first fight.

You mean the 39 year-old, previously stopped 5 times already Maskaev? The guy who had been out of the ring for over a year with injury? The Maskaev that Peter eventually stopped on his feet, after roughly two-dozen unanswered punches, delivered over about half a minute, nearing the end of round 6, in what had been an exceedingly slow-paced bout?
