And hearing and seeing Herols head impact and bounce off the canvas, it was obvious that he was completely KO'd and yet the ref still counted to the full ten before removing the gumshield, and the fallen fighter repositioned to maintain his airway, things have improved somewhat since 1990 regarding that.

Sadly of course Herol has suffered greatly from mental health issues and spent time formally detained in mental health units.

it's a shame. Graham had been #1 since 1983 IIRC.

Not only had he been given a title shot earlier against someone else could he had been a champion but had the ref stopped the fight instead of counting him out, maybe he could have gotten treated faster and who knows, maybe he'd avoided some of those later troubles..

Seeing Tommy Hearns knockout Kemper Morton at the Forum is way up there. First, because it was Tommy Hearns. Second, he knocked him out with a left, not a right, hand. But, in all humble honesty, I was the true star of the show.
The 2 guys in the row behind me had gone to the snack bar and were coming back with beer, nachos and ice cream as Tommy got his man in trouble. When Hearns hit him with the hook they got excited and dumped all their stuff down my back- that is how I know exactly what they bought- but I didn't blink and kept focus through the 10 count.
You might be wondering why they were going to the snack bar during the main event. The way it worked at the Forum, there would be a 4 round fight, maybe a 6, where they tested everything before the broadcast. Usually there would be a prelim fight, the semi main and the main on television. After that there would be several fights for the live audience.

The best I saw was when Vernon Forrest knocked out Sergio Rios in the second round on the undercard of the first fight between Bernard Hopkins vs. Jermain Taylor. They called it a TKO but it would have been a KO if Kenny Bayless kept counting. There was no way Rios was going to get up. Not that many people were in the arena yet to see the fight because it was fairly early on the card so I could hear the punches landing from my seat. The sound of the punch making contact, the sound of Rios body hitting the canvas and then Kenny Bayless stopping the fight before the count of 10. It was awesome!

    I was at Tyson-Spinks.

That’s the first one to come to mind for me.
