That certainly may have played a role too. Sadly Floyd never faced a "prime" elite talent. All of Hernandez, DLH, Mosley, Cotto, and Pac were at tail end of career. Canelo win was before he entered his prime.

Floyd was nonetheless very good. I dont think he'd be a betting underdog against any opponent in his career, however, he'd be even money against a younger DLH and Manny. Floyd barely got by both of those guys and I think younger versions beat Floyd, but no fighter is perfect.

It's not that Floyd couldn't beat many of them it was the fact it was a risk Floud was not prepared to take, he would have lost his 0 to somebody during that time, far safer sitting it out and let the rest of them all take damage and losses them come back and pick off the scraps...

I like Floyd over Martinez at 154. I also like Floyd over everyone mentioned except prime De La Hoya, who I feel beats him. Mosely & Winky I'd make even money against him.

As we all know, fighters unfortunately don't always fight the best of their eras in their primes. Just about every ATG can have his record torn down through opponent analysis regarding respective primes/timing of fights and things of this nature. Mayweather certainly appears to have taken advantage of certain timing situations though, true enough.

I almost always lean towards the superior boxer in hypotheticals, even when they are at a size disadvantage like the one between Floyd & Williams. Mayweather is one of the greatest pure boxers that has ever lived and that's why he beats almost everyone listed.

He could certainly have beaten Sergio.
