Sounds like he's going to cash out to a big name, either Fury or Wilder. Off the back of his last performance he wouldn't stand a chance against either of them
Very odd, he was making a big deal about fighting over the summer as was Hearn. There was no sign of an injury. I suspect it is a Dazn decision, perhaps something to do with his contract and guarantee per fight. That was very low key last week and didn’t hear lots of talk about it amongst the casuals.
There’s almost zero interest in a Whyte 2 fight let’s be honest. DAZN have probably got the calculator out and told him to sit it out and let the Saudis pay for the next fight in December.
Not really, they have a habit of saying one thing then doing another when it comes to staying active. April 2019 locked in, cancelled and then next fought in June 2019 (6 months > 9 months) Post Pulev fight, Joshua was saying he wanted a quick turn around. Next fought in September 2021 (4 months > 9 months) Now this: Summer changes to December (3 months > 9 months) He's just an inactive modern heavyweight. He was one of the most inactive unified heavyweight champions there has been. Made worse by the fact he was in his prime years, but you'd think he was the wrong side of 35...
Joshua doesn't need to 'cash out against a name'. He could instead fight ten fights against Franklin level foes and make £10m plus while giving the stool pigeon a couple of 100k.
That means paying a higher % to the opposition rather than fighting a can and keeping 98% of the purse.
How much did he make from Franklin? I heard £25m touted at one point. Playing devil's advocate, If you're in it purely for the money surely more of these fights are the way to go rather than one with Fury where he could pull out at any second and then there's more risk of losing.
I think he could pre-ruiz and Usyk but now he can't and that's the problem, being the main guy, girls wanting to be on top of him, guys wanting to be him, basically being the nations superstar is now gone

Meanwhile, Franklin is guaranteed a reported £800k for the fight, but that could rise to over £1 million should he win the fight." Yeah If I'm Joshua i'm doing as many of these fights as possible. £10m in the bank. Fight someone even lower than Franklin next and still get the hero worship while A listers are watching front row.
