Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz is Just Delaying the Inevitable

Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz is supposedly being set for later this year, and this would be Wilders biggest fight since his last fight with Tyson Fury in their acclaimed trilogy. I think this would be a great opportunity for Deontay Wilder to show the world if he still has the mental fortitude to continue in his career. I personally think that Deontay Wilder might be damaged goods, especially after the brutal amount of damage that Tyson Fury dished out on him. I know that Wilder had a great knockout against Robert Helenius back in October, but Helenius is an extremely limited fighter, and I don’t think that his knockout win was enough to prove that he is still at the top of his game.

This fight doesn’t do too much for me. Andy Ruiz is not a bad fighter, but with the significant height and reach disadvantage that he will have I don’t think that he will be able to do anything really effective against Wilder. I predict that Wilder just keeps him at bay with his reach, and then hits Ruiz with a right hand that knocks him out in the middle rounds. And I think that this fight is just delaying the inevitable, which is once Wilder fights someone that isn't 5 inches shorter and who can get to him and hurt him, he is going to fall apart. And I also think that once Wilder gets knocked out for the third time, he will hang the gloves up for good.

 

I liked Andy Ruiz Jr against the giant AJ. He was very effective and proved he's good against bigger fighters. He hits like a mule and has that explosive knock out power.

Wilder, on the other hand, is not as skilled as Ruiz Jr. He was outboxed and dominated by Johan Duhaupas in several rounds and his chin has been cracked by Fury.

I think Wilder may struggle in this one. He doesn't have a defensive style and his footwork is minimal. Ruiz will be able to close him down and slug with him close where his short reach is more effective. Wilder always has his power so he may well still win anyway. But I believe that a good version of Ruiz gives him a lot of problems.

 

This could end up being fight of the year. Great fight. Outside of Fury/Usyk, what else is there around at the moment?

Zhang vs Joyce sounds good but I just don't see how Zhang wins that fight.

Neither will be champion again because they don't fight enough. Sure it will only take two fights for Wilder, but how long is that going to take?

I think the ideal situation is that Wilder KO's Ruiz easily, humiliating AJ and Hearn, then gets badly KO'd after that, ideally multiple times.

 

Ruiz had a fluke win against a fatally flawed AJ and has looked like **** ever since. He's no better than helenius at this point

I don't think he'll be champion hes a whole different person after his losses like he turned Jehova witness I think he is damagae goods

 

No active heavyweight beats Wilders heart and resilience. I don't see why he would be damaged goods now... It would have happened after Fury II and he showed up for the third fight and took an even bigger beating.

Furthermore he had a spectacular KO1 in his comeback fight and looked great. Wilder is a live dog against anyone in the division and I think Ruiz is the perfect fight at this stage of his comeback.

 

The man went from stating that he wanted a body on his record to crying like a little girl after he beat Horrendous. He is mentally done. Stick two forks in him.
