Joyce wasn't more experienced than AJ when they fought. Joyce started boxing very late.

A shame? Funny, I see the opposite. Whyte is very fortunate to be a HW in our day, he wouldn't come close to entering the top ten in almost any other era & he's made more $$$ than he could have ever dreamed of years ago, while preserving his health in easier fights.

Looking like it, unless he comes up with a big win soon. He might become a Chisora, but doubt it.

He got his wish vs. AJ and Fury... but not the result. He was chasing Wilder too, likely same result as vs. Fury, AJ.

AJ fight came too soon for him, Fury came too late. His prime years were wasted fighting Rivas Wach Browne and Helenius.

Forget past eras, all heavyweights of today get far more than the guys of 2000s or even the 20th century….I mean ppv wasn’t a thing in boxing until the 80s and even then PPV was like a fiver and they came very far and few between. The big stadium fight tickets back then were going for a tenth of the price they go for now.

Thanks for the correction, looks like they both had been boxing for 3-4 years when they fought. I assumed Joyce, being 4 years older, was the more experienced fighter.

Both men are top ten HWs ah this point.

Anyone who refers to either one as "bums" has no business posting on a boxing forum.

    Maybe a synchronized swimming forum...

Or even a tiddlywinks forum ?

    But a boxing forum ?

    Just NO.

Joyce hasn't done anything to warrant being above Whyte, actually, even though he probably beats Whyte now due to punch resistance issues.

If Joyce beats a Wilder/Joshua/Fury then people can tell us what a juggernaut he is etc. But at the moment it's just all speculation and hype. You can say he'll walk through AJ and Wilder and grind down Fury and all this, but all he's done is beat a shot and unmotivated Parker and that Dubious guy who quit.

Profile wise, Hearn is probably correct.

lol Whyte would never have beaten Joyce. Not with a chin and stamina like that. He does almost nothing better than Joyce

Yeah that was very, very early on in Joyce's amateur career, it's listed on Boxrec as his first documented amateur fight, while Joshua was ABA national champion the year before and would represent GB at the World championships that same year.

Joyce also fought another opponent that same night before facing Joshua while Joshua was fresh. So a tired and novice Joyce vs a fresh and seasoned national champion and international team GB member.

The current version of Joyce slaughters any version of Whyte IMO.

As far as achievements and profile they are probably about the same.

If they boxed however my money would be on a Joyce mid to late stoppage.
