He's been in with Fury but was outclassed 3 times. Besides Fury he's had one decent opponent in Ortiz.

It's difficult to know exactly what level Wilder is though with such a gap in quality of his opponents compared to Fury.

I'd love to see Wilder fight Parker, Ruiz, Joyce, AJ

I'd like to see Wilder vs. (in that order):
    1. Oleksandr Usyk - no comment required
    2. Anthony Joshua - now let's see if we could have had an undisputed champion in 2019
    3. Joe Joyce - new hope; to test Joyce's titanium chin
    4. Andy Ruiz - most likely fight; never knocked out
    5. Frank Sanchez - test; can avenge a countryman
    6. Dillian Whyte - better him than Helenius
    7. many undefeated heavyweights such as: Filip Hrgovic, Arslanbek Makhmudov, Jared Anderson, Bakhodir Jalolov, Ivan Dychko, ...

We know exactly what level Wilder is. He's not very versatile or technically sound, but has a great equalizer in that big punch. He's also a bit tougher than was previously given credit.

He was only completely outclassed by Fury in the second fight.
Fury went life and death with him in the third fight.
The first fight, Wilder was outclassed, but he was also a different ref away from a stoppage victory that no one would have complained about.

Sure I'd like to see Wilder vs top opponents, but we won't learn much more about him. What we will learn is more about his opponents to see if they can handle his one awesome trick.

Yes, most definitely it's why I'm so frustrated that the fight with Ruiz still hasn't happened.

Even his 2nd best opponent in Ortiz has a big question mark over him as like Wilder, Ortiz really hasn't fought many top guys to really judge where he stands in his era.

Best case scenario Wilder beats everyone but Fury and so ranks maybe 2nd in his era but he might have lost to the likes of Joshua, Whyte, Usyk, Povetkin, Ruiz Jr and not even be top five in his own era because he lacks any depth to his resume and not a single signature win.

Wilder's best win is Ortiz, even Ruiz Jr has a better resume with wins over Joshua and Ortiz. Does anyone think Ruiz is among the best of this era? If the answer is no then you'd have to say the same about Wilder. I believe Wilder is better than his resume suggests but his standing will always be questionable unless he deepens his resume and beats more proven quality opponents.

Surely Wilder was broken physically & mentally by Fury in 3 tough fights for him.
We all know he has a big right hand, but l can’t see how he competes at world level.
The moment he gets tagged, the memories of Tyson Fury will come flooding back.

Wilder is a protected fighter . Joshua at least fought Klitschko , Parker , Povetkin , Pulev White and Usyk, thats a good resume . Wilder ducked Klitschko , White and Povetkin for a reason , he doesn't want to fight technically sound boxers with a punch, thats why he is a Bronze bomber and not gold bomber . He is back and continues to duck other challengers, clearly he doesn't want to fight Andy Ruiz .

Wilder’s fought Fury three times and Ortiz twice, that’s a strong top 5 list of names, no? You may say lack of variety but you can’t say it’s easy or not dangerous. And better fighters can adapt more within fights and between fights. All of those 5 fights were somewhat or very different to each other.

Beating Ruiz is good on paper but it’s not interesting because Wilder has shown the ability to dominate short plodders with good chins. The inevitable criticism will be he’s a leaden-footed midget who exposed Joshua and scraped past a 43 year old Ortiz. Or he’s past prime now after making it big and he just got lucky against Joshua anyway. Even though Sanchez is less “proven” it’s a far more interesting fight for Wilder. And if resume or your interpretation of it is as important as you say then perhaps Vitali is unproven, inferior to Byrd and Povetkin in that era.

Wilder needs to fight Usyk, AJ, and Joyce. All of the top 5 guys need to fight each other. Unfortunately, i doubt we'll get more than 2 legit matchups before they all retire, if even that.
