When I think of prime Mike im thinking 20- onto his unification. With that said Tyson sparred with Lewis regularly for a time. Lewis would know how to respond and what to expect. Early rounds for Tyson but if Lewis can weather the storm then Lewis by points.
With Holyfield, he hadnt yet mastered the art of headbutting so I say Tyson by KO before 5 rounds. Imho

Well if that's the case than Tyson had the shortest prime in HW boxing history. If there is one thing about HW division its that HW tend to do well right into there late 30's where is the smaller boxers tend to done early 30's.Never have i ever seen in watching & talking boxing for the last 50 years a boxer whose fans make more excuses for him than Tyson. When things got tough in the ring in big fights he didn't bring things to a different level he folded.Lewis didn't cry about his 2 losses he avenged them.

Tyson was unusual, his prime came much earlier than most HWs.
ImRegarding his prime-I dont think it was shorter than what most people expect it s just that people confuse prine with being disciplined.
Tyson was in his prime until at least he went to prison. The problem was he didnt take it seriously after 1988 or so.
    That s his problem.
He showed with Ruddock and Bruno 2 that even later when training seriously he was deadly.
Same thing later in with Tua-some friend was telling me his orine was 96-98-a whooping 24 months.
No it wasnt,it was just the period when he took it most seriously. If he was as serious in say 2002 as 1996 he would have been just as good.
    It s on them.

Tyson's natural physical prime was probably similar to other typical fighters, I.e. mid 20's to early 30's.

Tyson was actually at his best aged 20 to 23 imo, after that he clearly lacked discipline and focus.

Tyson rightly typically ranks lower on ATG HW lists than he would if he maintained discipline and focus throughout his career.

Equally, if you're considering a fantasty fight involving the best version of Tyson, you shouldn't be looking at the Tokyo or any future versions of Mike, imo.

    Agreed.
To be honest when he was coming up and after he won the title he was looking like he was gonna be the best ever.

There are circumstances that can shorten a boxers prime years . Tyson at his peak showed a lot of greatness. You question Tysons toughness compared to Lewis. But Lewis never stepped up and fought the best like Tyson, Holyfield or Bowe did. Lewis managed his career very carefully and only fought Holyfield when he was starting to slide and ran into some stiff competition and retired.

I think you got that ass-backwards.

    Prime for prime:

Lennox beats boh Tyson, and Tyson beats Holy.

Tyson was a great HW champion without question, just not the greatest HW champion that he seemed destined to be
