Joyce is still a good fighter and will bounce back. The referee saved Joyce so he can fight another day.

I don't like how fighters are deemed "hype jobs" or that they were "never good" if they happen to lose one fight.

 

**** man, I knew Zhang was a dangerous fight for Joyce to take but I still thought Joyce would win. Boy was I wrong.

Hopefully Joe can come back from this.

Respect to Zhang, what a beast.

 

Thats a big problem for him, he's too nice. Most great fighters have a real nasty streak in them.

 

Yes there's a rematch clause, but does a rematch make sense? Joyce will be 38 in September, and can make more money from matchups that favour him stylistically. Another beatdown like this one and he may be done at the top level.

 

How does Joshua do against Zhang?

 

It depends with who he fights next, put him in there with a Tony Yoka, then he might be able to bounce back. Put him right back in there with Zhang and he gets stopped again imo.

 

Silver lining for Joyce is he won't be as avoided now, and he'll get some good match ups...hopefully we don't see him become the new Chisora but that's a real possibility.

 

Who's "we"? I wanted Big Bang Zhang to win.

 

Joyce was trying to out work Zhang at times and I agree he was having success but Zhang was cute taking a lot of shots on his gloves and arms and always looking to land his left as soon as the option was there. Joyce looked his age tonight,hard to think that Zhang is also older than him .

 

Nothing wrong with the decision to stop the fight whether it came from the Dr, the ref or both1

Joyce couldn’t see the left hand coming and that swelling was ready to split and split badly under the weight of another heavy punch. Had that happened it would have been a plastic surgery job and at 37 years old it could have spelled the end of Joes career

Good work from the Referee in calling the Doctor over and making the tough decision to stop the fight

 

I would say "should have trusted my gut" but my gut is wrong so often I'd be upside down in the league if I went with it more.

 

Joyce is terrible style for smaller HW's, who can't punch as hard as Zhang.

Zhang has less chance to beat smaller guys, who were moving faster and have good stamina.

 

Who should Joyce fight next? Wilder being affected mentally or not, you know damn well Joyce would have the same nickname as our current president sleepy joe.
