Joseph Obey Joyce vs. Zhāng Zhìlěi & Denzel Bentley vs. Kieran Smith RBR.

Gutted, but not totally surprised. Writing was on the wall early, as the Zhang punches were having an effect on Joyce. Joyce, as we know is easy to hit. But his footwork seemed slower tonight. Zhang could not miss with the backhand.

 

Zhang has legit power. I don’t think they’ll be many queuing up to fight him after that.

 

Tiresome/Bore 3? Explain that if that aint pointless.

 

We completely agree.

You won't find a nicer person than Joe Joyce and I wish him all the best.

 

A fight like this makes you appreciate MMA more. They have to learn multiple disciplines to a high level. Whereas a world level boxer can be doing the same thing for 20+ years and not be able to make the basic adjustment against a southpaw.

 

Bentley Smith was decent and the main event delivered. It was a high quality event for Queensberry and the main event was enjoyable for everyone.

Look at some of their upcoming shows. None of them are close to what we saw tonight.

 

Very weird that Joyce came in lighter to just stand there and have his face caved in, he didn't even go for it when he knew it was a race against time.

 

or that you have to fly from the north of england to america to learn to sit down on your punches.

 

Now that Frank has Zhang under contract he should make Zhang v Dubois.

 

Overall it was okay for a non-PPV event. The bar is very low at the moment though. Not just from QB but from all other promotions.

Good main events and little else of interest.

 

Ref stopped it midway in R6 which was the correct decision.

Big Bang Zhang wins via TKO, I bet not many, myself included, saw this coming, especially in such a dominant fashion.

Well boxed.

Majority of Joyce's shots were hitting Zhangs gloves.

Disgraceful that one judge (Edwards I'll take a guess at) had Joyce 1 up!!

I had it 5-1 in favour of Zhang.

This result has certainly shook up the HW division, maybe it'll serve as a stark warning to others at the top - looking at both Fury and AJ - to make fights happen before someone surprises you with a defeat.

Congratulations to Zhang. With that thudding left, he'll be hard work for anyone.

 

It was lucky for Queensberry that the main event delivered.

We have to be honest and state that there was not much to be happy about tonight.

 

I was there tonight and to me it felt like any Joyce fight but this time his eye was ****ed. Zhang to me looked like he slowing and I could see Joyce taking over but defending punches with your face isn't a good idea.

Overall though the event was ****ing awful. Enjoyed the main event.

 

They were unlucky to be fair with Mayer’s opponent pulling out and Dennis McCann getting injured.

I don’t want to be called a Matchroom fanboy and speak about promoters, but tonight was a big blow to Frank Warren with Joyce losing. I can see Dubois and Joyce re matching next year.

 

The show was terrible, main event aside
