I don’t know what’s really changed after tonight. Joyce is a likeable bloke who earned a title shot against the best by cleaning out the fringe contenders. But it was always said, certainly by me anyway that he’s tailor made to lose badly to the elite at the top. It always surprised me that Fury/Joshua didn’t go out of their way to get him in the ring. It would have been an easy sell too.
The Joshua we saw last time out isn't smoking anything but the reefer. What I find hilarious is that people are speaking like Zhang a bum. I thought he pretty comfortably beat Hrgovic and even if you think he didn't you could see how tough he was. Zhang going to be a problem for all but the very elite and he will still give them food for thought
It's weird. Like how if Hearn was to sign Joyce Puroesco Fan, Trafford, etc will now be speaking up for Joyce. What is that all about? The QB mob are also as bad this isn't a one way thing. The only thing that matters is the fights
The difference being Franklin has decent hand speed and that's where AJ has issues. Joyce punches in Slo mo and I don't see AJ worrying about what comes back as Joyce is too slow. No head movement, no upper body movement, his made tailor made for AJ to throw combinations not concerned with what comes back. He wouldnt find it difficult to land clean and as like tonight would end up making Joyce's face look a mess
Not me. I've said Joyce was too slow before the Dubios fight and inking a deal with Warren. It's like watching a fighter in Slo motion. What I did expect was Joyce to actually work on defence as his been caught too easily vs lesser opponents but it's like he believes the hype about juggernaut making him invincible.
He had the look of a ‘face fighter’ to me when I saw him before this fight and that just doesn’t work at the elite level of heavyweight boxing. People convinced themselves he had an anvil for a chin and that he’s just walk through whatever was thrown his way. I suspect this won’t be the last beating he takes.
To be fair he kind of was walking through it. His eye closed up unfortunately, had it not I could have seen him winning late as many predicted.
Fair point. But he has pretty much hurt everybody he has fought. I honestly felt very scared for Joyce with this fight.
Think the poorest aspect was joe didnt change the gameplan at any point . Tbh the gameplan pretty much wrote itself....get zhang working and he,ll tire as he often has especially at 40 years old. It should have been changed pretty early when it became apparent zhang was landing damaging shots all too easily. We,ve seen it before against joyce tbf....but probably not against a proper counterpuncher who looked stronger than joyce in there to boot. Joe would have done better trying to box him as opposed to sticking with the original gameplan of continually going forward trying to tire zhang until it was too much of a mountain to climb. Back to the drawing board tho. Thats boxing...not everyone can be number one. Joes the type to beat a better fighter than hes lost to with his style tbf. Time will tell.
