One thing great boxing coaches know is that a good southpaw boxer, who knows his advantages over an orthodox stance fighter, will ALWAYS beat the orthodox stance fighter.

If an orthodox stance fighter is not taught from early on how a southpaw can take advantage of his orthodox stance, he's always going to struggle against southpaws.

Salas knows it. And I'm sure he probably spent a fair amount of time trying to bring Joyce up to scratch on how to fight against a southpaw. But it wasn't evident tonight.

Some orthodox stance fighters never learn or "get it" when it comes to southpaws. That's why the saying exists...all southpaws should be drowned at birth.

People pick on Fury but he makes smart business moves, his selective in who he fights and when he fights them which this was a dumb business move.

Oh, it was the weight loss that puffed Joyce's eyes up. Stupid me, I thought it was Zhang's left.

 

Haha, I called it pre fight because I was thinking it was a stupid risk for little reward, don't forget the top guys were looking at fighting Joyce.. just fight some bums you know you'll beat..

 

I can't believe his mum wanted that too continue...

 

The weight loss made it difficult for Joyce to assert his will and push Zhang backwards which is normally how he avoids shipping tons of punishment. Without the bulk it was target practice.
