Yes, most of Joyce's punches were landing on Zhang's gloves whereas every time Zhang let his hands go he was connecting.

Using your chin as your main defence can only get you so far, especially at heavyweight

I have already said this a lot of times but I get accused of working for Matchroom.

Yarde Beterbiev delivered and Yarde is very popular now. Rumours are he’ll fight Joe Smith Jr next which is a great fight.

He hasn’t had a good event to be honest since Yarde Beterbiev until tonight, where the main event was great. In May he has a York Hall show and a great clash between Conlan and Lopez but it clashes with 2 other shows.

He’ll make Bentley against Sheeraz at the back end of the year which is decent. I can see Zhang and Joyce having a rematch too. Dubois Usyk should be on BT but Dubois will probably lose and to be honest isn’t very good.

It would be great for him if Fury does fight in the summer before fighting in Saudi Arabia in December.

Joyce was very lucky to be fair that Howard Foster inexplicably stopped the action in round 2 for about 5 seconds. He was a sitting duck to be KOd.

A rematch will only do more damage to Joyce's career and his face, he'll continue to walk into shots, looking like a giant Lego man with his fists up but not doing much with them. I honestly don't know where he goes from here, he needed a statement win tonight, he needed to look good. I think tonight has done irreparable damage, his whole thing was being able to appear invincible but once he was wobbled in the second the writing was on the wall, he's lost his aura now. I'm gutted because the division is an absolute mess, you've got Fury acting like a complete idiot non stop, a gunshy Joshua, Wilder and a frustrated and probably fed up Usyk, the rest are crap.

 

Depends how you look at it.

Is it better for the sport of boxing that we have men like Joyce prepared to fight anyone and give us the best possible fights. With the possibility an avoided fighter may break through, and that he may take an L?

Or do we prefer the Fury, Wilder and AJ approach? Where top fighters hold titles for years on end without ever fighting each other or certain dangerous contenders?

It depends on whether you are a fan of the sport or a fanboy of a particular fighter.

It should be like any other sport where the best face the best on a regular basis.

 

You're right, the 3 fighters you named have never been in the ring with someone of Zhang's quality.

 

George Warren didn't say there was a rematch clause earlier in the week but, "if he wins we have options on him"
