Joe Joyce, Overrated?

Margarito actually had good fundamentals and inside fighting skills. He had leaky defense but even he wasn't a wide open barn like Joyce has been lately.

Joyce was overrated as hell. I remember people saying he could just walk through so many elite fighters shots before stopping.

 

Should change his name to Juggernought as he has zero boxing IQ

He just fought a guy that was possibly the worst matchup for him in all of boxing. I think Joyce would still beat Wilder and only Usyk, AJ and Fury beat him

 

Would love to remember who the guys were I argued with who claimed Joyce was the biggest baddest most unstoppable mofo in history and was a better George foreman lol

 

He lost, but exposed?

I mean even those who picked him to win like me thought he'd have to eat a ton of shots early on and Zhang was the most dangerous fighter Joyce would of faced to date, due to his counter punching. The fight pretty much went as I expected for the most part, just didn't factor in, his eye would swell up like that, he took a ton of shots against Parker and didn't look to bad at the end of that fight.

I thought Joyce would take over late and maybe that would of happened if not for the eye shutting. So I don't think he was exposed, we all knew his flaws coming into the fight but thought his strengths could overcome them like they have with everyone else, but in the end his ability to take a punch worked against him.

 

The amount of british and american hype in media, and this forum especially all said Joyce is up there, the only contender to Usyk and Fury - and you guys said Zhang is B level fighter. Zhang just outclassed your "champion" - making Hrgovic fight even more impresive than Joyces.

 

Hrgovic looked much better in defeat than Joyce I'll give you that.

 

I know the intent of your post is again to tell how impressive Hrgovic was - no, he wasn't even that he did better, that's true. But Joyce is indeed a big hype for no reason and this finally ends.

I'm thinking for a fight Joyce vs. Hrgovic. Or the Croatian can take his Zhang rematch if not going against Usyk.

 

Hrgovic's performance against Zhang was far from impressive even after this win for Zhang. Fact is Zhang made them both look bad. But Hrgovic did do better even though he was dropped and looked far more hurt than Joyce ever was. So we at least know Joyce has a better chin that Hrgovic.

If neither of them rematch Zhang then lets make Joyce/Hrgovic if Hrgovic doesn't get the Usyk title shot.

I still think Joyce beats Hrgovic, that is as long as he avoids a similar injury which lets be honest isn't out of the question.

 

yeah I was surprised at how highly rated he was on here. I’ve never been impressed with him as far as top heavyweight’s go. He’s painful to watch at times. If he stood in front of Wilder like that he would be in big trouble lol

 

He won, he had more stamina and threw way more punches - dont watch DAZN highlights, rewatch the entire fight. The only reason hrgovic is thought less of is because Zhang was disrespected as B class fighter aswell. Now it seem you guys are all wrong and your heroes AJ, Wilder, Fury and JJ are just fakes.

 

Hrgovic on the worst fight on his life looked better than Joyce the number 1 contender in the world. That is what you are saying. But I remmember you hyping Joyce and calling Zhang B class aswell, you changed your opinion - like wind.

Joyces life was in danger - how does he have better chin - if Hrgovic chin was problem - how after first round knockdown he took at least 10 more straight lefts and didnt go down? Answer me that boxing genious?

Hrgovic would be dumb not to go after Zhang now, Zhang wants it aswell. Hrgovic has no buisiness with Joyce, he a second class fighter that was hyped by media, that is all there is to it - and they did it to feed him to Fury. What a joke.

 

They hyped him up just to feed him to Fury.
