Not really, he was wobbled with the shot that shattered his goddamned nose, and still didn't go down. The rest of the shots didn't come close to putting him down.
You could have stated your opinion in one of the seemingly hundresds of Joyce threads opened now. But you just had to open a new one to suffocste the forum with even another Joyce thread.
Scalps amateur and pro Jalolov Hrgovic Majidov Yoka Dychko Frazer Clarke x 4 Leinier Perot Vykhryst Ali Eren Demirezen Gasan Gimbatov Joseph Goodall And he was robbed of Olympic gold Pro Parker Dubois Takam Jennings Stiverne Ustinov Hammer Kiladze Joe Hanks Thomas Big Bang Zhang is a slick, skilled 20st man mountain counter puncher with devastating power in both hands and head the size of boulder and a tight defence. That's got to be the rarest species in the entire world and stylistically he was the worst possible match up out there for Big Joe. Many fighters duck legit punchers their own size, let alone much heavier murderous punching ones with atomic power in both hands Many fighters duck southpaws. Many fighters duck slickness. And when I say many fighters I mean established world champions Big Joe just made a voluntary defence against a fighter who ticks all three boxes in his 16th fight Big Joe still beats the vast majority of the top 20 and Big Bang Zhang bangs out most of them too
Styles make fights. Although Joyce was grotesquely unprepared for a heavier lefty with better defense than most top guys at heavy, it does not neccessarily equate to Joyce losing to the other top guys in the division. And no chin? He fought Zhang with his hands down most the fight and ate shots like he was a college slut on spring break. His chin held up.
I haven't really been frequenting the forum much recently, I caught up on this fight this morning I didn't read the other Joyce threads so I just decided to make the thread. Again I think you've misinterpreted my intentions in this thread, it wasn't too gloat about my boxing knowledge. It was mostly in response to the ridiculous hype Joyce got as you can see from Tyson/Joyce thread. Which I clearly remember as I made a few comments in that thread to state how ridiculous the hype was that Joyce was getting. Also i'm not speaking just with hindsight, I'm stating the exact samething that i stated a few months ago. Lastly theres a difference between say like someone like Lomachenko if he were to get dominated by Haney, I would still truly believe the hype Lomachenko got was warranted due to his performances against numerous world class fighters. But in Joyce's case he got alot of unnecessary hype just for beating Parker, and people were saying he beats other ATG's based on that which was ludicrous.
Yep, he even got more aggressive as the fight went on, upping his work rate, not exactly what a fighter would do when being hurt a lot. Joyce's chin still granite. Doesn't mean he can't be knocked out though, I still want to see him fight Wilder just out of sheer curiosity to see if he could take it.
Why do so many people keep acting like The Dosser isn't susceptible to getting KTFO in these hypothetical match ups against legit punchers? He couldn't deal with Belly Fury's pressure and power whatsoever for goodness sake. Belly walked him down and bounced him up and down off the canvas like a yo-yo and he's not a massive puncher at all. The Dosser's resume is trash and the skill level of his opponents absolutely atrocious. Hrgovic beat him up the gym when he was a 19-20 y/o amateur, still years away from turning pro, and The Dosser was 28 y/o and 28-0 as a pro Trust me The Dosser would go to sleep as soon as Big Bang grazed that chin and unlike 99.9% of The Dosser's opponent he actually possesses skills Take a gander at the HW top 20. It's full of fighters Big Joe could've fought instead and beat
A few things. Joyce was heavily favoured to beat Zhang. Zhang prior to the Hrgovic fight had not shown that much potential as a professional, yes he had the undefeated record but against no one really of note nor in the top 10 he's also pushing 40. Is Hrogovic really that good of a professional ? we shall see, Joyce on the other hand was way overhyped on this forum. All in all is Zhang better than we thought ? probably yes. But at the sametime was Joyce heavily overrated on this forum ? yes to that also.
Horrible defence against a southpaw but he remains a very good fighter with a good resume. However as the contract says there will be a rematch and I think the next time he will be much more careful.
I don't like Wilder at all infact i don't like most of the Heavyweights of the current era, the only one i really like is Usyk. I also didn't mind Joyce for his personality and willing to fight, but that doesn't change the fact that i thought he was heavily overrated before and after his fight with Zhang. But Wilder still in my mind puts Joyce to sleep he has no defense.
He was hurt and wobbled on numerous occasions to his credit he did show some heart. But he wasn't able to come forward aggressively like he had in previous fights, nor impose his will on Zhang what so ever. And i think Wilder would stop him as would Joshua prior to his fight with Ruiz.
I didn't say he had no chin but people were saying he could never be stopped and his chin was unbreakable, i think Wilder puts him to sleep as would a prime Joshua prior to his loss to Ruiz which ruined him mentally. I also never stated that he couldn't beat other fighters in the top 10, but there's difference saying that and what people were claiming. Like he was the 2nd coming of George Foreman.
Joyce fell in love with his chin, endurance and power. You could see it in the build up too, where both HE and the broadcasters made it a focal point of conversation. Somewhere between the Dubois fight and the Zhang fight, Joyce neglected a lot of what he did when he newly turned pro. He's now trading on toughness alone. The ring was too small for two guys that size also. Zhang took full advantage of that.
Big Bang Zhang is obviously a lot better than many thought he was. I'm sure a big part of the reason he doesn't have more names on his ledger is because, like Hrgovic, he's high risk. Hence why Hrgovic was ducked like crazy everytime they went up and down the IBF rankings even though the winner was guaranteed a HW title shot and why Big Bang Zhang was the only one prepared to step up to the plate to face him. There are numerous fighters in the P4P top 10, let alone top 20, who've barely fought any legit punchers, especially ones their size and many fighters avoid slickness and southpaws or absolutely hate facing them even though a slick southpaw with devastating power in both hands is actually very rare. And Big Bang Zhang is a counter puncher too. Big Joe just fought someone who ticked not just one of those boxes but all of them. Big Joe was ranked #3 or #4 by The Ring for a reason and stylistically Big Bang Zhang is probably the worst match up out there for him. Big Joe's size, pressure, engine, chin, and power are still a nightmare for the vast majority of top 20 HWs.
