Joyce v Wilder would still be a great match up but after watching Zhang land on Joyce at will basically, especially in the first 3 rounds,it’s hard to pick anything else but a Wilder stoppage win. Both Wilder and Joyce are tough and neither man will quit they would without doubt keep going in the trenches in a war of attrition but Joyce’s lack of any speed, lack of upper body movement, and his ponderous movement of both hand and foot and his predictably would have Wilder firing off on him from the first bell. Was Joyce actually old manned last night and time caught up with him or was it Zhangs boxing ? Whatever people point the finger at we can all agree on one thing,Joyce looked poor and very limited last night .
Everyone went crazy for him after he beat Joseph Parker, there was even ridiculous comments about how he would beat a prime Mike Tyson, and how he was the second coming of George Formenan. Don't get me wrong Joyce's performance against Parker was decent, but Parker was never one of the best Heavyweights nor is he a big puncher. So I never really understood why Joyce got so much hype for that win. People kept going on about his supposed granite chin, but yet I keep stating hes never been in the ring with a genuine puncher. Overall people overrated Joyce far too much for his win over Parker.
So basically Joyce got stopped facing the first SHW big puncher of his career. Not to be disrespectful, but that's kind of ridiculous for a someone claiming to be a juggernaut. Hey, it's easy to bully all these small HWs, shot Kevin Johnson and Stiverne and smaller Dubious and Parker and so on. Guess it's not so easy to juggernaut someone around his own size. Maybe he should go back to fighting small HWs so he can juggernaut them better? And they should put an asterisk on the juggernaut descriptor to let people know it only refers to fights where Joyce has a massive size advantage. It's sort of unfair to the fans if they pay tickets and expect him to be a juggernaut out there but then some 40 year old guy his size just punches him in the head and stops him. It's basically false advertisement now, from a 'brand' point of view. Something for his manager Sam to think about moving forward, perhaps.
It's not about being vain it's mostly due to how ridiculous the hype was for Joyce just for beating Joseph Parker. I had a quick glance at the forum and see someone bumped the Joyce/Tyson thread, that thread right there is all you need to see on how ridiculous the hype was, and you can also see my comments in that thread aswell prior to Joyce/Zhang. And you can see I stated everything there that I'm stating here.
I agree he was over hyped after the Parker win, though I think some of those saying he would beat Tyson and Foreman were not being serious, just trying to highlight the ridiculousness of comparing Joyce at that stage with ATG's based off beating Parker.
What's ridiculous about it ? I don't really understand the issue here. I'm not stating I'm some boxing guru know it all, theres plenty of knowledgeable posters on here who know more than me. I'm a young guy in my early 20s still learning about the sport. This thread is mostly for the ridiculous hype that Joyce got, and I could never fathom why he got it in all honesty.
Not really, he was wobbled with the shot that shattered his goddamned nose, and still didn't go down. The rest of the shots didn't come close to putting him down.
You could have stated your opinion in one of the seemingly hundresds of Joyce threads opened now. But you just had to open a new one to suffocste the forum with even another Joyce thread.
