This content is protected I'm liking these era of 6'6"+ heavyweights all 260+ pound titans, excluding Wilder who is a 210 pound freak. Hurgo, Zhang, Joyce, Fury, AJ when he roids, Joyce, Wilder. BIG BOY CLUB.
I like Joe, so I'm gutted he lost. Zhang fought a real solid fight. Used superb distance control, fluidity and balance. He never over moved without choosing to do so. It will be interesting to see where Zhang will go from here. Fury and Usyk presumably won't be interested in fighting him, the likes of Joshua and Wilder also. Probably Top Rank, who love em WBO belts, will want one of their fighters to have a go at Zhang, be it Anderson, Ajagba or Makhmudov. Zhang versus a heavyweight from Top Rank seems like the most viable opponent next for the Chinese Juggernaut.
Joyce took his show as far as possible. You can have a great chin and box poorly for only so long. His deficiencies, which are huge and obvious, were taken advantage of by a smart boxer. Tim Bradley had excellent reviews of everything that's wrong with Joyce's style; it was as if Zhang read or heard Bradley. It actually was a very easy fight for Big Bang.
Zhang is from Henan Province. 100 million population and near on trillion $ gdp. Now might be the time to make a big HW fight in China. Not too many opportunities to better test that market than this one.
Zhang did a great job of exploiting Joe’s slow hands really well. He was constantly countering joes poor hand speed with ease. When Joe threw a punch he got countered and his left eye paid the price for his poor defense. Credit to Zhang for a good fight
It was quite disturbing to see the puny juggernaut bullied by that big Chinese guy. Joyce just couldn't stand toe to toe with Zang. Looked like the Rocky 3 fight with Clubber Lang. Just look at the state of Joe's eye? Will he be able to bounce back from this, knowing he can't bully his opponent? It's not looking good ... He isn't fast enough to box to a decision win. In retrospect this fight could be a option for Joshua, if he wants to reclaim any credibility....
I saw that just after the fight, Zhang beating Joyce had 13 million impressions on China’s version of Twitter and was #1 trending, bearing in mind this fight took place at 5am Beijing time on a Sunday morning. This fight was Zhang’s first PPV in China and it looks like it was a success. If he can tap into even a small proportion of China’s 1.4 billion-strong market, this could be absolutely huge for the sport of boxing.
