Sorry pal - my bets are no guarantee of future wealth :) And I risked a princely 3 quid left in the bookie account!

Well I did say seems to be worthy, obviously there's a question mark as long as the big fights don't get made. That said, he's winning and clearly wants to fight and unify. Fury, Joshua, and Wilder make a lot of noise but don't want to fight.

Not a hype but certainly overhyped.

After watching AJs last fight it was the first time I thought he has a chance against AJ, pure recency bias!

AJ should have faced Joyce instead of Franklin, a gun shy AJ could have let his hands go against Joyce and probably done alot of damage.

I honestly don't get the need to gloat and drag fighters down when they lose.

I mean if they are cocky prikz like wilder or even fury and times I get it to some extent.

But joyce is a nice guy and fights anyone, deserves respect not ridicule. He's come unstuck, styles make fights. Doesn't mean he's a hype job I think he has a good shout against anyone in the division.

Joshua enjoys a pedestal that most don't though. He's been the golden boy who could do no wrong since day one. The hype surrounding him from 2016-19 was insane. Many pointed out he was being a little overrated but of course they get dismissed as 'haters'. Hearn constantly peddling how apparently he's fought a murderer's row was laughable. There's no wonder he's held to different standards because he volunteered himself for that pedestal (and he did VERY well out of it). When things started to unravel he went from comparing himself to Ali and Tyson to trying to make out he was a novice still learning on the job. You can't have it both ways. I don't think anyone claimed he wasn't any good, just nowhere near the hype that he made for himself.

He hardly fought cans pal. He fought everyobe not named Wilder and Wilder wenr for much lower dough much much lower dough to fight a 30 stone ped popping charlatan. Povetkin, Ruiz, Parker, Pulev, Whyte were all top 10 when Tony Dosh beat them. And he fought Usyk. Twice. No other heavy has done anything in this era close to it. We all know that.

It's not that he was ducking or dodging. It's that he's not the best thing since sliced cheese because he scraped by an old Klitschko and Joseph Parker. Joe Joyce is not on the cover of GQ under the tagline 'the greatest'. He doesn't have fifty foot billboards of his face on Piccadilly Circus. He's not saying he's comparable to Ali and Tyson because he beat Parker (like Joshua did). He's not saying he's going to have a ten year reign and to be the first billionaire boxer. It's easy to forget what AJ mania looked like because he can't sell out the O2 now but it was mental for a while. He's a decent fighter with a decent record like a few others beneath Fury and Usyk. That's it. But the AJ fanatics take that as an insult.

    Its hardly his fault either

Queensbury have a lack of decent main eventers so have promoted him as "the guy" (since the Dubois fight anyway)

And Queensbury are just trying to make money off their investment (though they took far too big a risk from a promotional point of view last night)

AJ got banged about by a little fat guy (visually that looks awful to a casual) but people in the know knew Ruiz was solid and a good boxer

    This is no different

I remember it. We haven't seen anything likw it before or after so it was special. Scraped by Klit? He turned Waldo into a giraffe pal.

Joshua could hardly stand up at the end of that fight. If Wlad hadn't run out of steam first it was going to a close shave on the cards.

No. Overrated lately though. I think the tactics and light weight were wrong yesterday.

Never thought he’d beat Fury. I’ve said forever I don’t think any heavy about now will beat him. Would have given him a chance against the rest. His punch output is outstanding and the way he wears people down is great but I said all the time he can’t keep blocking shots with his face. I naturally envisaged an eventual Ko but this is basically the same thing. A stoppage as a result of a terrible defence.

I liked him from the amateurs and I really liked his Dubois performance and brilliant derailment of that hype train. This made me support him. All in all I root for people I like not who I think is the best like a post ‘03 Chelsea or post ‘08 Man City fan. Could never stand Joshua and disliked Fury from the early days but had warmed to him later on. So it’s nice having a dog in a fight like I have with Joyce. Instead of just wanting someone to lose or being impartial in the division. I will still hope he wins and he can still win some decent fights. The fickle will all get off at this station jump back onto a previous train such as Joshua or the next big thing. I think this behaviour shows a lack of intelligence and child like infactuation with other men. If over 15 this is bizarre if you ask me, stick to your guns. Flip flopping from one extreme to the other, when it’s always somewhere in between.

Because him and his team had the audacity to claim AJ was using Joyce name for clout (stop laughing at the back)

also people knew he was being overhyped by BT over wins over Daniel Dubois who isn’t very good and average Joe Parker

I don't think Joyce is a hype job.
Just that Zhang was all wrong for him
and Zhang himself is very underated.

Joe struggled with his southpaw style and using his chin as a defence against a big heavy handed guy is never going to end well.
The fact he came in light was puzzling for me- Joyce was hardly going to dance around the ring and his punch resistance would have been weakened.

I think Joyce should avoid the rematch- Zhang just has his number

To an extent. It appeared that the current Joe simply could not be hurt which was one of his major assets. That's clearly not the case.

In fact Zhang pretty much beat him up. Quite astonishing really. But i think only Zhang and Wilder out of the top fighters are big enough punchers to do that (Joshua's power seems seriously diminished these days).

Unless Joe seriously improves his defence he's going to struggle at the very top.

He hasn't got time to get back to the top, he was probably a year to 18 months away from a title shot last night, now he's at least two years and three fights away from getting a shot and others are moving ahead of him in the queue and while Tyson Fury is in the equation things will take even longer.
