Ive seen a lot of people say that Zhang got robbed but when I watched it I thought Hrgovic won legitimately. Zhang hurt and dropped Hrgovic but didnt do much in the 2nd half of the fight and would only fight in spurts for the last 30 seconds of the round. Am I the only one that thinks this?
I remember watching it live I had thought Hrgovic won on points before they announced the verdict. I thought it's a shame because I started to root for Zhang as the fight progressed AND he did do more damage on Hrgovic than vice-versa BUT... He gassed and was very inactive later on, and while Hrgovic wasn't landing anything major, he WAS landing more and won rounds.
I thought Hrgovic did enough to win. Zhang faded down the stretch and Hrgovic got on his bike and just out worked him and out boxed him. I can't give Zhang a round if he wins 20 seconds of a 3 min round even if he's landing the harder shots in that round. And I was rooting for my fellow China man in Zhang so if anything I was biased it would have been towards Zhang.
Hrgovic edged a close win on activity and by finishing strong in the second half. But not decisive which is why a rematch makes sense. It's more appealing now taking Zhangs performance the other night into account
Agreed it is subjective, everyone has different criteria, I prefer to base it on punches landed, though obviously the type of punches and the quality of the punch has to be taken into account. But that last aspect is where it can be difficult. For example 1 guy known to be the big puncher lands a shot does that have more value than the other fighter who lands the same punch but doesn't have the same power? Then factor in the fact that the lighter puncher has a iron chin so the big punchers punch has no effect on him but his same punch has a greater effect on the bigger puncher because that guy has a glass chin. I find some people put more worth in the supposed big puncher and perhaps over value their punches in terms of scoring even when their punches have no effect on their opponent.
Yeah, I had Hrgovic by a point 114-113. 4 was a swing and zero problems with the same card the other way. I think the people speaking like it is a locked robbery are wrong.
The most powerful blows were landed by Zhang from the beginning to the end. Hrgovic has a helluva chin.
I had Hrgovic by a small margin. The spectacular shots were coming from Zhang and he had Hrgovic hurt badly at times. Hrgovic however threw more and landed more in most of the rounds and simply outworked Zhang by 208 of 705 vs 154 of 395. Considering both aspects Hrgovic deserved a 114-113
