Eye on the Ring has it to Zhang at about two thirds. https://eyeonthering.com/boxing/filip-hrgovic-vs-zhilei-zhang Almost all very close though.
I had Counterfeit-Vitali just nicking it as well, though it was Zhang that had all the eye-catching moments with the knockdown and the combos that visibly rocked Hrgovic to his boots. Hrgovic did a lot of good consistent work throughout, and especially in the latter half of the fight though, which is what got him the deserved decision.
Great Value Vitali edged it late. But can’t call this fight a ROBBERY. Needs to be a rematch. Filip BETTER bring his A game because Zhang has a lot of momentum and confidence going.
Pretty much the problem with Zhang. If he worked on his cardio a little bit he'd be a good contender for the top spot in the HW division. I like his subtle skills, his parries, and his accurate hard shots. He's a really useful boxer and good to watch. But you can't land 3 good punches a round and win if the other guy is much more active.
Zhang should have got it,yes it was competitive and yes it was a close fight but Hrgovic just didn’t seem there at times and frequently just wandered off mid rounds. Hrgovic was meant to be this big bad bogeyman who could not get anybody to fight him, well Zhang to his credit stepped up and made Hrgovic look bad . Hrgovic not pushing for an immediate rematch to right the first fight spoke volumes .
I watched it the day of the Joyce fight and thought it was 114-113 Hrgovic but was uncertain of the outcome of one of the rounds, ended up giving it to Hrgovic. But yeah I think it could’ve easily gone either way but Zhang hardly did anything for the 2nd half of the fight.
One thing also to point out. Not sure how many of you watched the fight live on Sky but the commentators were quite biased in favour of Zhang to be honest, or rather they were quite critical of Hrgovic. I do think Zhang is better than Hrgovic outside of his lack of stamina but it definitely wasn’t a robbery after being so inactive for those last few rounds. A rematch would be intriguing though.
I had Zhang winning, and I was disappointed when he wasn't the one getting his hand raised. But the fight was so close that either man being announced as the winner, or it turning out to be a draw, would have been okay. Zhang did the more meaningful work, meaningful enough that I thought he won even the rounds Hrgovic was more active. But that's the thing, boxing is scored per round and Zhang gave up the last three rounds entirely, which is what handed the fight to Hrgovic if I had to guess. I maintain that Zhang did better, but starting with round ten he just gave up too much of the fight. So, someone who thinks Zhang won here, but I don't have a problem at all with people saying Hrgovic won. Certainly wasn't a robbery, just a close fight, which unfortunately is always gonna see some folks disappointed.
I never thought i would say this: I think I'll have to watch Hrgovic-Zhang again. I came down hard on Hrgovic after that fight.. but..
I thought Zhang edged it by a point, due to the knockdown. Round 1 Zhang 10-8 Round 2 Hrgovic 10-9 Round 3 Zhang 10-9 Round 4 Zhang 10-9 Round 5 Zhang 10-9 Round 6 Zhang 10-9 Round 7 Hrgovic 10-9 Round 8 Hrgovic 10-9 Round 9 Zhang 10-9 Round 10 Hrgovic 10-9 Round 11 Hrgovic 10-9 Round 12 Hrgovic 10-9 114-113 Zhang
No, Zhang won that fight. Filip's resume will benefit greatly from Zhang beating Joyce though. Zhang definitely doesn't have much time on the clock to go back and fight a rematch, but if that is all that becomes available to him I will be watching.
