No. Re-hydration clause = not full credit. He did it to himself.

Yup, and sometimes it can backfire. Like when Dawson dropped down to 168 to fight Ward. He clearly looked weakened. The rehydration clause is just weak sauce, plain and simple.

If Tank says no fight without the clause, that’s imposing.

What are the rules on gaining too much weight. Never heard of them.

That’s not how boxing works though. It works based on weight at the weigh in.

Fight a guy straight up like you did every other opponent. Is that too much to ask for? When you need special circumstances, you don’t deserve full credit.

He gets much credit but the rehydration clause is greasy.

If anything, rehydration clauses should probably be the norm, rather than the exception. I prefer them to catchweights, to be honest.

Plus, It's not as if a 10lb weight gain limit is that big a handicap; Jarrett Hurd was subject to the same restriction against Lara when he scored the biggest win of his career, and he was considered more of a weight bully than most in recent times.

If there's any mitigating factor, it would probably be the 136 lb catchweight, but Garcia was being listed as a lightweight by GB as recently as last year, so I'm not sure how much of an impediment it would be.

I laugh at all these American posters who keep saying no excuses because it suits their man. I am rooting for Tank but the rehydration clause is BS same as when Mayweather did it same as when Pac did it. Could you imagine any other professional sport saying ok we will play but you need to be at a handicap or we won't do it and you won't get the pay day?

That's Tank imposing his wishes or desires, not his will. Garcia had every opportunity to say no and move on to a different fight if Davis wouldn't acquiesce. Garcia made the decision to agree to the hydration clause. Hopefully, this will backfire on Tank and he'll get his head handed to him.
