True, I doubt we'll see Garcia dead at the weight, it wasn't that long ago he outgrew 135. But the rehydration clause wasn't something either Roy or De La Hoya had to deal with. Fact is why ask for a rehydration clause in the first place if it doesn't effect Garcia? Answer is Tank believes it will make a difference, he didn't want to face a fully hydrated much bigger Garcia.

Personally I think Tank would KO a fully rehydrated Garcia too but he isn't going to be facing a fully rehydrated Garcia so you can't give him the credit for doing so. Most people criticised Ward for facing Dawson at 168lbs when he fought at light heavy as an amateur and while that was a good win most realise that wasn't the same as beating Dawson at 175lbs.

I mean, garcia is going to be a WW when he steps into the ring, i think thats fair enough. People want use the term "Weight Bully" very loosely when its their fighter taking a loss, but fact is Garcia with no hydration clause will be a MW in the ring that night, i think with them both not being able to come into the ring more than 146 pounds evens the playing field.

And theres no doubt that Davis thinks Garcia is the toughest challenge of his career, but Garcia isnt Barrios, and didnt pose the same threats that Garcia poses going into this fight so i can see what the concern was while negotiating this matchup. We'll see, i give Ryan a good chance and if he pulls it off, then people made a big fuss over nothing. I dont think the rehydration clause will effect him at all. In fact i think he might be more explosive.

Has anyone found out WHEN the second weigh in is?
One source has it the morning of the fight which with 2 meals still means Garcia will be over 146 in the ring.

He deserves a lot of credit for beating Garcia, but FULL credit would be without any rehydration clause. It takes a tiny bit of the shine off it for him

No I wouldn't loma is a small 135 pound fighter and Haney is a big one. If loma put a rehydration clause in for Haney and Haney agreed to it then it's fine with me.

The difference is rjj and oscar weren't 24 and prime they were in their mid 30s one was old and shot the other was faded badly. Garcia is still young his body can handle it better than theirs.

I don't care for either fight all that much but how about wait and see how Garcia looks. If he looks good and healthy at fight time then their should be no reason not to give full credit. If he looks very weak and lethargic and clearly visible that it has affected his conditioning, then I would say he still gets credit but there will always be a dark cloud hanging over the win. But as others have stated he did agree to the fight so in his own head it is not an issue. Not everyone will see it that way, but it is what it is and we have the fight and that's all that should matter to us fans.

Doesn’t the IBF enforce the same rehydration requirements? So Haney should only rehydrate 10 pounds.
