To me, the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO, right or wrong and they are usually wrong about most things, but they are the big four world championship bodies. Ring magazine is just a boxing magazine. It's just like if TV Guide started telling us who the real Emmy winners are or Entertainment Tonight did the same about the Oscars. They are just magazines, and I dont want to read who in their opinion is the real champion. I want them to inform me about what's going on in boxing.

Interesting points but i always thought they started awarding their belts to clarify who was the best of the best. Also as informed sources of the game I imagine they would have a good if not better and less biased view of the best fighters? We all know organization rankings are sometimes dubiously arranged shall we say! Having said all that there was the Ring Mag ratings scandal in 1977 so it's not like they are squeaking clean:)

I don't necessarily regard the Ring Campion as being the man, but I regard the Ring belt as being worth more than any of the big four Weetabix belts, and perhaps any two of them in combination.

    Usyk is the ring champion.

And while I think he very well could be upon beating Fury, he's not currently IMO.

Yeah but do the fighters? Fighter win a wbc or one of the other 3 belts you gonna hear them say I’m a world champion. Never head any fighter say yeah now I’m the ring champion. What does that even mean now? There’s no ring magazine anymore so you can’t even say you’re the ring magazine champion. You say you’re the ring champion no one will know what the hell you’re talking about since everyone fights in a ring an there’s no magazine reference to fall back on

    He;s also the TRBR champion.
The thinking is simple-they played on Fury's talking. He said he retired so he was bumped out.
AJ and Usyk were the top 2 guys and fought for the championship.
Now you can say Fury was just talking but he vacated the Ring belt so they called him on his talk.
    It s the right move.

I respectfully disagree. I think everyone at this point knows Fury's antics and the claims that he's gonna retire (without ever doing so).

Well it s just that they were fed up with him. They took it for real,he even vacated the Ring belt.
I rate both The Ring and TBRB as the best in terms of rankings and both made the same decision so I’m not gonna go against their thinking.

Now I don't doubt that at all, I think Fury being goofy cost him that recognition. But considering he "really" didn't retire, I'd say if they weren't going to re-recognize him, just keep it vacant. It wasn't even a span of a year (and we've seen them allow timeframes to pass for far longer, another big issue I have). Everyone knows the appropriate fight to make: Him and Usyk.

    They couldnt keep it vacant:
    Fury retired in april
Usyk and Joshua fought in august and the championship policy as we know is when the title is vacant and the top 2 guys fight winner is the champ.
    So that s what happened.
Evidently neither can REALLY say they are the chsmp without beating the other but I’m just saying what the thinking was behind the move.
To me it doesnt seem as an unhealthy thinking-it promotes the best to fight the best.

I have seen fighters make a big deal of it, admittedly when it was the only one they had left.

In monetary terms it isn't worth two buckets of warm spit.

I think The Ring should align himself with a lineal championship. Would become way more credible. It's been turned to **** since Oscar took over tho
