...and not only that, but if by some miracle García does manage to honor the rehydration limit without any hitches, it'll almost certainly take hours and cut into whatever reasonable bedtime his team had planned on tonight.

For anybody that hasn't stepped in the gym and sparred/fought: doing so with subpar rest - anything less than your own baseline night's sleep, if not a good bit more (ten hours is recommended for optimal performance) - is a disaster waiting to happen. That's a massive disadvantage unto itself. The less refreshed your body is the more susceptible to shock impact, the less alert you are, whole slew of things. More I think about it, this (obviously calculated) move is equal parts cowardly and diabolical.

Granted some fighters do take a quick restorative nap in the afternoon on fight day - hence all the imagery of them arriving to venues during a card in progress looking a little bleary even though it's already evening - but not all do/can, and you don't want to have to rely on that.

    Re this:
    Was reading on Joe Gans
The racists back in the day when he was champ had imposed some serious weight restrictions.
There were title defenses where he weigh in directly incthe ring before the fight or mere hourse before it.
    Several times.

...and I'm guessing those standards were literally never applied to white combatants?

It's all the same kind of "fan" that keep defending the CW and rehydration clause. They are cringe and absolutely detract from the fight/win. Shame Tank doesnt have the same confidence his fans have

Dude's ego is like one big house of cards, I will almost feel bad if he winds up sat on his ass bloodied and humbled with his world crumbling around him. Almost.

10/1 on Garcia winning on points. Not likely but the odds are just too good considering how Tank drops rounds to lesser boxer, will be the shorter fighter and can be scared off by power.

Well of course, Garcia has the height advantage, Reach advantage, he’s the naturally bigger guy, he got a catch weight instead of having to drain to 135lbs, why would Tank not attempt to at least get something in his favor?
